I feel pretty certain that the Colts would have lost that game with Richardson instead of Minshew.

I feel exactly the same, but of course I can't prove it.

    I honestly don't.

Hell, if Baltimore cannot stop Gardner Minshew... how are they stopping a QB who is clearly leagues better in Richardson?!

Because Richardson is not currently “leagues better” than Minshew. Yeah he’s a great athlete with rare physical tools. He’s a superior runner who may or may not become a quality QB. He also did all of his damage vs the Texans with his legs and paid the price with a concussion. Minshew is the guy who took over and went 19-23 to bring that victory home, and then showed enough savvy and tenacity to lead the offense against a solid Ravens defense. That Ravens defense is really, really unkind to non-savvy QBs. I know there’s no way to prove a counter factual point, but I feel pretty sure that the Ravens’ defense would have frustrated Richardson and forced errors. Minshew was a solid and steady vet Sunday, and that’s what they needed.

Do you really believe that Richardson’s physical traits translate to instant superior QB play? It may happen for him, and happen sooner than it did for guys like Lawrence (who is still shaky IMO) or Allen (who really took until year 3). However the chance of it happening when facing the Ravens defense in his 3rd start? I’m selling on that one.

If this is the case, then why would Indy draft Richardson?! Clearly the hope is he can put it all together. However, given how Shane Steichen has let him start tells me that Steichen believes Richardson can win for them right now despite his limited overall experience at the position. You said it yourself; Richardson has tools Minshew can only dream of.

There is one more aspect to all of this; this isn't Steichen's first rodeo with ridiculously athletic and toolsy QBs. Jalen Hurts didn't have Justin Herbert's arm but he was a ridiculous athlete coming out of Oklahoma. Justin Herbert had everything a Head Coach could ever want minus his consistency at Oregon. Anthony Richardson lacks the experience but simply has way, and I mean way too many tools and gifts to work with.

Richardson will be just fine. Shane Steichen will see to it.

We’ll see about all of that, but keep in mind my primary point was to respond on why I think Minshew is the better Qb right now, more specifically the better QB to face a Ravens’ defense that is unkind to inexperienced QBs - in week 3 of Richardson’s first season. The Ravens are not a good matchup for an inexperienced QB.

We will never see eye to eye on this.
Richardson has already been hurt in two games, and He's only played two games.
Notice the only rookie Qb that is doing good ..even though His team is not very good is a mainly a pocket passer Stroud. Watch Him play , and see How You manipulate the pocket without having to run. Richardson will be lucky to survive the NFL long enough to get better. Speed, Height, and Arm strength do not make a great Qb.
Processing speed, ability to read a D, and delivering a well placed ball does. I know You are Young My Friend , but don't let the media trick You into believing anything else, and believe Me they are trying because there are more athletic Qbs coming out of college now than at any other time , and they can't say.....Well they suck. LoL
It's not a miracle , or a trick that the SBs are all won by the better pocket passer.....Year, after year, after year.

Don't butter it up. Right now Richardson sucks. Played two games....got hurt in two games. This is not saying He won't get better , but by the time He does....He may not be able to play anymore.

I guess the only point I wanted to make was it is possible for a running QB in the NFL enjoy some success. But I think in the long run a running QB is not going to hold up as a rule

I agree with this. I just always look at the History. Take the 5 best Running Qbs You can think of, and look at the overall success. Only Steve Young had any, and that was on a team that had already won 3 SBs not long before Him, and after He finally learn to play from the pocket....as He Himself will tell You. Outside of Him You have basically no success....except regular season.

It's a good thing they gave OBJ 15 million , after playing in the opener he's injured again.

    So.
Every team has players injured. Hell I can think of 3 starters We don't have this week, and bunches of injuries. Every team has them, but somehow people like to use this as a Ravens excuse.

Who is using it as an excuse?! I am not.

I am just simply dumbfounded as to how this keeps happening to the Ravens. For that matter, they recently just fired their Head of Strength and Conditioning from a season ago. It still is more of the same.

Not sure if I did. However, if I did, that is due to what I stated above; dumbfounded. Injuries are a part of the game yes. However, the amount of injuries some teams sustain is either relative to unreal.

Mark Baltimore in the latter category.

Well... Watson isn't playing. Simple as that. Dorian Thompson Robinson (DTR for short) looked pretty damn good in the preseason. Time to see if that carries over for him now.
