It's hard to pick one. Heyward is pretty good too. That front of Heyward, Watts, and Dupree is unreal.

None for Minkah? None for Popcorn with the trade? What about the great T. Austin? Yes Butler deserves some credit.

We are a good team but offense will kill us in the end. If this was the 90s I would feel SB bound

Nice to see defensive turnovers like the days of old. Take a look at average turnovers by decade:

    2019 (projected): 46

    2010 - 2018: 22.3
    2000 - 2009: 29.1
    1990 - 1999: 34.9
    1970 - 1979: 44.0

The steelers have 26 defensive turnovers currently for 2019 season. That would average out to 46 for the season. Lets say they just eclipse 40... they haven't had 40 or more since 1996.

I think it's interesting to compare the lowest turnover output in the 70's of 35 (1971). Since 2000, the Steelers have had more than 35 just once - 2002 (that was 36).

That 70's defense was a serious turnover machine.

I loved what I saw yesterday and have been seeing over well.....since Minkah has been here. What a difference this side of the ball has become from the beginning of the year. Just think many of us were losing our heads over the Tuitt injury which at the time he was playing lights out and bam everyone else steps up. Watt is just a stud, Dupree is playing for a contract and is lighting it up, Haden is stepping up, Nelson had a very nice game yesterday, Heyword is a beast and Bush has played pretty darn good as well. Throw in a strong runner for DPOY in Minkah and what a unit we have.

I know a lot of us were screaming for Butler to lose his job but holy come not sure how but he is doing something right. The key to me is 3rd down, the Lames only converted 1 yesterday and imo that has been our week spot. I am loving what I am seeing I just hope with 4 somewhat easy games coming up we don't take our foot off the pedal.

The 90's defense is who they remind me of. Fitzpatrick = Woodson, Watt = Lloyd

We are one takeaway less than New England and third place has 10 less takeaways just sayin

6th in qb rating allowed, 2nd in sacks, 10th in points, 7th in YPC rush d.

should be top 5 by years end

Good memories of Cowher taking the air out of the ball in the 4th quarter with Bam and then Bettis. With those teams, all we needed was a lead mid-way through the 3rd and we just pounded the other team into submission. Renegade is so much better when our defense is fearsome.

Better?! I would say much better. Keep in mind Mason's stat line would look much better if the Receivers catch.

Can the defense just play the whole game? They score more than our offense.

Apparently you are blind to the significance of Neon Deion's accomplishment. It is a chore to listen to him most times.

The D has been great. What a difference a real FS makes. Who would’ve thought ;). One of the biggest things I notice is guys are flying to and around the ball. Even Bud who I’ve knocked in the past for his lack of sticking his nose to the fan is now doing just that. He’s hustling on every play and throwing his body around. That’s what Steeler LBs are known for. Personally I think a big part is a new contract but whatever,I’ll take it. I also have another theory besides the obvious impact Minkah has made. I think Watt is a huge catalyst for this new found tenacity. We have complained for years this D plays on its heels. They are now a attacking defense. I really think Watt’s all out approach is contagious. He has become a leader on this D. We seem to have one on each level DL,OLB ,DBs and hopefully Bush will be that guy for the LBs.
Still concerned about the middle of the field. The Rams didn’t seem to attack it until late but they were moving the ball with that approach. Something to keep a eye on still...Otherwise excellent work.
