Fair point, but plenty of folks here have taken his antics this season as final evidence the other way. Wake me when he misses a regular-season game.

Either way, the point still stands. Brown didn't just give in when he was told no, he did it very quickly. Perhaps the Steelers should have tried that.

The Steelers had a sit down with Brown and they couldn't work out their differences. I don't think it serves any purpose to play hard ball with disgruntled players. In most situations like that it's just best to cut the losses and move on.

Number of years ago they had to grandfather in some of the players facemasks. Guy like Justin Tuck who had a full face mask or the big cage Greg Lloyd wore. They were very used to what they always wore and didn't want to change. Since the new helmet rules geared towards player safety those seem secondary now. Although you are right no one has gone this extreme with it.

The Raiders didn't get him to behave. It was the League.

Me thinks why argue to wear an old helmet? The old helmet got his eggs scrambled before. I'd think you'd try to embrace the evolution of technology aimed at keeping all them eggs fresh and in one basket as opposed to scattered between the hash marks regardless of the comfort level. From my recollection, no helmet or helmets were ever comfortable to begin with but you can break anything in and co exist with it. He's just pulling crap to change the narrative on his current hoof headline... As well as recharge/continue surfing the wave of running the NFL headlines.

    Dudes a mess

He says he'll hold the NFL liable? Get in line with rest before yinz. Gonna be a long wait... You knew the risks and signed right on up.

So any Steeler who is unhappy with his contract is free to tell the team he wants out and they will have to deal him even if it is for pennies on the dollar. That's where your philosophy on this matter leads.

Then you were late in realizing it. I suspected it before and I was sure of it with the locker room recording. In case you missed it, he was still an extremely productive player after that incident.

The point remains, this wasn't even the first time Brown made an idle threat and caved when told no.

I thought you were sleeping. The Cincy game was unproductive for Brown & the Steelers. A final straw is a way to put it. The distraction was bigger than production.

I think the more appropriate word is “placating,” but yes he was.

As I said the other time Brown is a good riddance for the steelers....The steelers were sick and tired of the circus and wanted to move on as quickly as possible no matter what

I was disappointed about the return to Brown's trade but not upset because of the situation ... I was way more upset and angry in 2010 when the steelers traded Santonio Holmes in 2010

Just to look at the list of incidents of Brown, it's worse since 2018 ..

I don't know why it's so hard to grasp that the Steelers wanted to move on from him.

Brown was not happy with his contract, but he had so many others problem, as noted in my previous post

Lots of good reason why not a lot of teams in the NFL were interested in Brown and that's understandable with all the circus and headaches that Brown brings into a team right now

Sure, he's a legend in his own mind but, don't include the initials of his kids. After all, George Foreman named all his kids George!

Minor point, but does the Spencer Lanning foot in face incident count as a drama?

Scribe doesn’t like to lose you can tell that by his posts. I’m not saying that’s a good or a bad thing just pointing out an observation. So I can see where scribe feels like the Steelers lost on the deal and he doesn’t like it.

With stuff continuing to come out about AB i’m convinced the Steelers did what they had to do. Just my opinion.

Most players generally play by the rules. Players become disgruntled for different reasons. Most players become disgruntled for financial reasons. Who can blame players considering the way the NFL and some fans want to treat them?

AB isn't the first or last head case to be a disgruntled Steeler or NFL player. It is a testament to the Steelers that they were able to keep AB under control for as long as they did.

Sorry but my philosophy on this didn't cause AB to be a head case or spoiled brat. That train sailed long time ago. The Steelers dealt with AB as long as they could. Sometimes nothing can be done for problem children. That's just the way it is in real life. Maybe you live on another planet?

Brown gave in because he's due $31 million guaranteed, even after being told no.

Lol. This conjures up images of AB sitting at home on his computer scouring Ebay and Craigslist looking for a helmet.

I agree with the first part, but I don't think that it has to do with him feeling like the Steelers lost in the deal. I think it has more to do with him making up his mind as to what the Steelers should have done with AB and stubbornly sticking to it even though with each passing week it becomes obvious that they made the right move. In his mind admitting that he was wrong is losing, so he's sticking with the production angle knowing that AB will produce and that he can always point to that as some sort of victory and say that he was right.

You left out "who is arguably the best player at his position, AND has teams willing to take him in despite all the bridges he burned".

You make it sound like Jesse James or bubble players could do the crap that Brown did.
