Profession sphincter at it again - AB - Thank God he is gone.

I love that he painted his old helmet and tried to get onto the practice field with it not once, but twice.

 

It's quite amusing to think back to this spring and think that there were a significant and vocferous portion of us that

a) thought keeping AB and telling him to STFU and play was the way to deal with him,
b) thought there was a better deal out there to be had than a third and a fifth,
and
c) AB was not the root cause of the problem. (Although admittedly, I'll say I thought and still think, but to a much lesser degree now, that Ben's passive-aggressive finger pointing was a contributing factor.)

Regardless, thank goodness he's not our mess anymore.

Instead of enabler there's probably a reasonable argument to view MT as preventer. If you look at it this way Tomlin actually got a ton of production from AB while keeping this douche under semi-control for 9 years before running out of ways to do that. When you look at things now and look back at AB's Steelers career it's actually pretty amazing the team got the production they did out of him while keeping his antics somewhat manageable.

Sort of reminds me of a friend of mine claiming Jim Boeheim is the greatest basketball coach of all-time, pro or college. His justification was "The guy got Derrick Coleman to play hard for four years." I had no counter.

 

I'm wondering how much of that was Haley.

The guy is abrasive and sometimes makes weird play calls, but his discipline gets the offense prepared. He did the job in KC, in Pittsburgh, and he got the Browns organized on offense (before he was booted out). I'd guess Antonio's antics became unmanageable partly due to Haley leaving and Fichtner being in charge. (It would still be the right move to make, if everyone else on the offense responds better to Fichtner.)

 

The Steelers did not lose Antonio Brown, only his baggage, which was shipped out to Oakland. They just magically changed him into Devin Bush and put him on the other side of the line.

 

I hate Brown but his talent was amazing. Might be a little to early compare Bush to him. I really hope Bush doesn't have the attitude Brown has.

I agree on both points. Talented but entitled player. I don’t directly compare the two, but the Steelers flipped him for someone who some said was the best player at his position, arguably their position of greatest need. I’ve seen no evidence of asshatism yet but it’s early.

Ok, this is insane, right? I'm referring to AB's helmet issue. Has this EVER been an issue with another player ever? He can't play with a different helmet? What?!

Should we not assume that AB, a person that would throw away millions of dollars because he can't wear his favorite hat, is going insane?

There has to be some kind of mental issues and the helmet thing is an excuse. This is bizarre.

 

I'm still mad about my worthless AB bumble bee jersey.

I knew I should have bought a Hines Ward jersey instead.

From now on, only retired Steelers players' jerseys. Heath Miller and Hines Ward would be good picks.

So much for Brown's threat that he would retire rather than play without the helmet he wanted. Brown lost his appeal to wear the old helmet and immediately announced he will play anyway. Funny. I seem to remember somebody around here saying that nobody should take threats by Brown seriously. Oh right. That was me.

 

Burfict should contact the best defense attorney available in the Oakland area for fear that AB will sue him for the obvious brain damage during their previous team encounters. Actually, Vontaze should tell Gruden that he refuses to go anywhere near this nutcase until he is cleared by 3 psychiatrists to continue his profession.

 

Somebody finally put AB in his place. Lets see how this goes...
