I get that, but there wasn't enough time left to have a chance to tie it unless it was 3 and out. You have to go for it in that situation

 

my question didn't ask if the game was meaningless, only the difference between winning and losing the game.

 

I cannot imagine being willing to place a bet on a pre-season game.

Well, I guess I actually answered your question then with my very first sentence. The final score was meaningless so winning or losing a preseason game is meaningless as well. At least in my humble opinion.

 

That's the point, they need to be getting down there faster and controlled. This team wanted longer and more consistent punts. The gunners have to get there and at least slow the return man.

I mean he could dial it back and have shorter punts and we basically have Harvin back without the inconsistency of a shank or 2 a game. The way he's kicking is why he was brought in.

 

The kid can really boom it, that's for sure. Can't believe the 49ers signed Harvin

 

Was thinking of the players who make a team or miss cut. These meaningless games are life changing for them.

To win that game the Steelers needed to play more starters and some for more of the game. I got a feeling that if Tomlin decided to do that fans would be screaming at the top of their lungs. I liked this preseason because Tomlin was smart about keeping most starters out entire games.

we know most of what we have, agreed, esp. on defense.

the OLINE will need time (and healing). The softer schedule may allow that to happen. any early season slip ups spells doom for our playoff hopes.

The 4 stringers of the lions were better that those of the steelers.....Big deal,it will not matter when the season start

 

Being that it was a preseason game maybe that is what he is told to do

A lot of guys have to make the team by playing special teams

If he punts the ball and the returner fair catches it you learn nothing about any player
