What concerns me is the lack of discipline again. CAIII false start on the first series helping to kill that drive, Jones looks like hot garbage with a clear injury, play calling (God hoping its conservative in preseason) is terrible again, Wilson didn't look great so O Line better improve to all pro status or disaster is looming and finally Fields looking like Pickett not being able to read the field missing a wide open guy waving at him with a blinking sign saying throw it to me I'm open. I will say this till the day Tomlin is gone, he was a good coach for a veteran disciplined team that he inherited but I don't think he can develop a young team into a well disciplined x's and o's team. We need a new leader period full stop!!

Wilson and the rest of the starting offense might need to play a few series against Detroit.

I don't think you can judge the run defense based on the preseason games, the Bills started running the ball in the second half against the backups.

What? Does? This? Have to do with the preseason? Do you believe the season will go as the preseason does? If we go 3-0 in the preseason does that mean great things for the regular season?

Who knows just exactly what the Steelers coaches have been working on with these first 2 scrimmages? You learn much more from mistakes, struggles, and players getting beat at this time of year than from looking like a well oiled machine playing mistake free.

Again, I don't care about the records in the preseason, it means nothing but when it's ugly like it was yesterday for our starting offensive line, it would be a lie if I said that it's not a concern and I would said the same thing if the steelers would won this game 20-9 because of 2 second half TD by our offense

For the 9-8 record,it was also my prediction before the preseason

When the team is going through a new OC, 4 new QBs, and a rookie OL, how can you expect anything but ugly scrimmages for the offense? If this team does finish 9-8 it won't have anything to do with how many points scored in preseason.

I've seen many times in the past in the NFL,teams be great from the start with new players and coaches...The o-line is a real concern and if they don't fix that, it's going to be over very fast

Correct. Camp and preseason is where you iron these things out. Don’t know why people are expecting a finely tuned killing machine.

I expect the start of the season to be bumpy, too. If by week 4 and all the same struggles are happening I’ll worry then.

2006 saints,2017 rams, team like dolphins in 2022 were very good on offense from the start when Tua was healthy, the 2004 steelers with a rookie QB and also a rookie OC,last year texans,it took a few games but after they were better and better, bucs in 2020 won the QB in the first year with Brady despite no OTA,mini camp, preseason, the 2011 49ers with Jim Harbaugh with also no OTA and mini camp and many other

Most of these teams did not have both new players and coaches. Even though the 2004 Steelers had a new QB, the rest of the team had been there. Just stop.

No we can't. New OC, new QB, new OL...what part of this is in any way the same? New WRs, new WR coach.....just read.

The steelers had also a new WR coach and a new o-line coach in 2004 with Bruce Arians and Russ Grimm as OL coach...Some teams have success from the start with new coaches and players, others it takes some time but they become better and better, other teams are bad from the start and it stays like that...I hope this will be one of the first 2 scenarios for the steelers when the real game starts

This team also doesn't have a Ben Roethlisberger. I think there is one in the upcoming draft though.

One thing I thing I will say about going into the season, they better obtain someone else if Aiyuk falls through. This offense will struggle if all they have is Pickens. Muth won’t be enough to counter that.

The offense looks horrible but it is only pre season and Russ hasn’t really been very involved. The WR room on the other hand is a joke and those guys behind GP will not be close to good enough pre season or regular season.

These are the 'Yinz were talking about here. I know EXACTLY why we are expecting a finely tuned killing machine. If we look bad in preseason the sky is falling and we need to fire everyone and dump half the roster. If we lose during the season its because we all should've seen it coming and this is the start of a decade long losing season streak that we will never recover from. If we win during the season, it wasn't by enough and none of it matters unless we win the SB. It's the 'Yinz man lol

People on the board last year were all jacked up about Pickett and the offense in pre season. We saw how that turned out so maybe this will be the reverse?

For me at this point I’m just so down on MT and the offense I’ll believe it’s better when I see it.
