Considering the risks involved and possible long term effects compared to an office job (for example only), he's right.

No disrespect intended, he just a little vague is all. I won't pass on info that starts with 'I heard', but that's me.

I get what you’re saying, our military puts their lives on the line, not football players.

They do put the bodies in harms way, their future lives in harms way and for some their life itself in harms way. Clark was one of those players.

There’s lots of sources reporting he’s stable and in the Hospital. Still in critical condition and undergoing test.

I can think of a lot of jobs besides the military, less dangerous than football, where people put there lives on the line daily. What's the difference between 'life on the line' and 'body in harms way' besides semantics...

What worries me is I still haven't read anything indicating he was breathing on his own.
It was reported his vitals were normal, but if that's the case and he was breathing fine on his own, he wouldn't be sedated with a breathing tube. He also wouldn't still be in critical condition.
I also thought he was going to be okay when I first heard his vitals were normal, but there's clearly more going on still and this kid is far from ok.

Good post I read they'll be looking to ween him off of the vent. That will ultimately tell us where he's at and what's his prognosis.

Tutan Reyes recently told a story* about the Saints owner expecting his team to fly to Pittsburgh (of all places) for a scrimmage a few days after 9/11. After the owner told the players (explaining how they needed to keep their 'competitive edge') he left the locker room and Kyle Turley flipped out on Jim Hasslett, told him he'd join the Marines first, threw a banana at Jim and stormed out. The rest of the team was onboard with their true leader, Kyle Turley. Needless to say, no scrimmage. Something similar could have unfolded last night if the players hands were forced, considering the emotions in the locker rooms and the stadium.

Do we really know any of that? Watching the broadcast on ESPN it seem like more speculation than anything that the coaches decided the game wouldn’t be played. We don’t really know what discussions were had by the NFL at this point.

I'm sure there were discussions of continuing play and stopping the game. They didn't need to make a quick decision and took their time and the right call was made. I can certainly see originally not knowing the extent of what happened someone saying 5 minute break and continue on, but as it played out the right decision was made.

Yes we do know it...... The NFL office initially told both teams that they had 5 minutes to warm up and get back out there..... The coaches spoke together and mutually took their teams off the field, basically telling the NFL to go to hell.....
Goodell has been posting support in an effort to save face

    Prayers to Damar...

We all have watched a lot of football. But, not many of us ever saw something like that unfold. NFL made the right choice to not play the remainder of the contest.

Not sure what they do at this point.

If I am a Bills player I don't even care if they give my team a loss, you care about your brother at this point.

Agreed. I'm just speculating based on what I saw and read, but it sure seemed like it was Taylor who went to McDermott and said they should get both teams off the field.

I don't do those things. Take it or leave it.
In general, one of friends (though Commaders beat guy) had mentioned it.
And I think I saw something mentioned on ESPN.(TV)
And I can't think of any reason why we would need to know "who" was on the phone.
The NFL is typically always 'watching' and has folks in place. I have no idea who those folks are. In general, I am in agreement with FormerScribe about the entire situation.

I don't want to get too far off the topic here and I hate to trash a book I haven't read, but I have read a few articles about it and I've heard Hoge's argument. The co-author, Peter Cummings, is an assistant an assistant professor of anatomy and neurobiology with the Boston University School of Medicine. He also wrote The Neuropathy of Zombies, so it's not the most distinguished publishing history there.

I'll just leave a couple of links. One is a review of Hoge's book by Christine Brennan.

League of Denial by Mark Fainaru-Wada and Steve Fainaru is a much better choice. It is disturbing stuff. I would also consider it a must-read for Steelers fans because they go into great detail about Mike Webster and other connections with the team, including Chuck Noll allowing early research into concussions.

My apologies to all for the digression.

I heard a report this morning that it's very common for a patient to be sedated and intubated after a cardiac event. This is to ensure proper oxygenization of the blood to protect other organs

Right now this seems like the most logical explanation. Will probably find out more information as the story unfolds.
