This is much different. He lost a pulse twice and they shocked him back both times. Watching local news about it now. Listed in critical but stable condition which is somewhat encouraging. Has a pulse but not breathing on his own. I'm just saying what the local news in Cincy here is saying.

Stopping the game is the right thing to do.

How can fans even watch the game after that? You can't not think about what you just saw. We all felt bad for Shazier, and maybe they should have cancelled that one too. But at least we knew he was alive.

 

I would not have been opposed to continuing right there

Taking the teams back to the locker room to regroup was probably better

Maybe delaying until tomorrow is good as well but I don’t see the function it serves

Not totally disagreeing

But I come from a family of a bunch of doctors and nurses with experience in multiple wars

I was raised to take like and death in stride and move on

And right now he isn’t even dead

Keep in mind we are the family that left my cousins wake to watch a playoff game in the next door bar

It doesn’t mean we don’t care we just aren’t emotional

 

I hope he gets well if I’m sounding cold

 

Maybe it makes it worse for the Bills but injuries of this severity aren't going to all be treated the same so this can't be compared to Shazier. Maybe more to the Reggie Brown injury years ago.
Can you imagine the media sh!tstorm if 5 plays later another player goes down with a serious injury after letting the game play on?
I get it's a game and injuries happen but there's quite literally a guy who may be dying or have serious brain damage and I just can't see these players getting it together enough to go smash into each other at full speed.

 

I remember when Chuck Hughes died on the field back in 1971. He was a Lions WR who caught a pass and then a couple of plays later collapsed and died from a heart attack.

 

I don't want to be ignorant here but the Bengals are one of the biggest teams opposing natural grass surfaces and have been arguing against it all along. I wonder if the hard surface, the hit or both contributed to this incident. I can't imagine what the players are going through though.

No way they should continue this game.

 

Coming from family, along with cousins, in law enforcement, my fear and experience is that until all members of family are told, the person is listed as in critical condition. It can go for days until all members are contacted. Like I said, I pray for the best outcome for this young man.

Nah they only have to notify the immediate family. Plus they’re reporting in stable, but critical condition. Hopefully things improve.
