I was working at one of the local papers at the time. They called everyone into the office. This was about the time my wife was being sent home because they were evacuating her office, which was downtown. This went pretty much as I expected. They had nothing for the sports department to do, so we just sat there watching the news come in on the televisions in the office and asking if anybody needed help every once in a while.

9/11 I was at work at Indian Point 2 nuclear power plant in N.Y. and it was on the list of potential targets. No problem with bosses with me doing nothing but listening to the radio that day. Everyone was stunned.

I can see why the NFL cancels a game after a player stops breathing and needs CPR. The players were stunned and would not be able to get back into game mode.

I don't know if this has been discussed but do you think they would have continued play or called it off if it had been a low market meaningless game?

I believe it was the teams that called it off so most likely the same thing would have happened and the NFL would abide by that. Ultimately the teams hold the power on that.

I was working at a major airline and my job that day and for the next 4 days was sitting in a chair at the nose of a 757 jet (the same type jet used in the attacks) and I sat there wondering what kind of AHoles could fly them into buildings? Said to my coworker sitting next to me, could you just imagine looking out the window and seeing this heading right towards you? 3 days later I found out a friend of mine was in the second tower and never made it out. Just started his job less than a year earlier.

This game Monday night needed to be cancelled. I have about a dozen or more friends that went to that game and couldn't imagine the fans, teams or NFL continuing after what they just witnessed. It would have been a terrible look for the NFL and they probably would have lost more fans than any of the kneeling players brought about. I for one, would probably be done knowing the almighty dollar rules more than player safety at that point.

Hoping for the best for that player.

The almighty dollar does rule more than player safety. That game wasn't played because the teams refused, not because the league office came to its collective senses.

30 yrs ago…… probably even 20 years ago the game would have resumed.

Times have changed…. Some for the better and some for the worse.

The Bills MUST beat the Pats this weekend in order for the Steelers to make the Playoffs. It’s Wednesday, a key day in game preparation, and the Bills aren’t in house. They are still dealing with the aftermath of Monday nite.

True, and that is likely the only reason the Patriots have a shot on Sunday, but the Bills will and should get all the time they need. Last I heard, Diggs was still in Cincinnati. I guess he and Hamlin are close.

If they are going to have a serious chance of winning they need to get back in the building soon .

I would imagine some players on the Bills are ready to return, for many reasons:
    1- Win for Hamlin
2- They worked hard all off-season and all season long to get to this point
3- They want the best seating they can get for the playoffs - Super Bowl

There are some players who aren’t ready, emotionally spent, mind still on Hamlin and a loss of Focus.

I like the Bills and hope they win the SB IF The Steelers aren’t playing.

The first time I boarded a plane following 9/11 I had similar thoughts. It was a bit disturbing. I can’t imagine having a job that requires me to be on a plane at that time.

On the other hand the sooner we return to what’s been normal for us the sooner we heal………

I've liked the Bills chances a lot of the year to win a Super Bowl. Their defense was showing signs of having issues. They have some issues there they had a lot injuries that side of the ball like losing Von Miller for the season, and Hamlin was actually a back up entering the season playing for an injured starter.

To start the game Burrow swiss cheesed their defense down the field in like 5 plays and scored a TD.

The last 10 weeks two teams have really trended up and not looked back, the Bengals and the 49ers.

But I think its anybody's Super Bowl.. every team has some issues and can be beaten....

The Bengals really do look like world beaters. You can't rule out Mahomes of course and the 49'ers have a ridiculous defence, but there's questions about their QB If Allen is on his game he can put up 30+ points. Then you have GB, who doesn't look like much, but if Rodgers plays like he can they can be dangerous.

The Bengals are my pick, but there's 5 other teams that can realistically win this thing.

Maybe. I remember a lot of backlash when a Pro Wrestling event was continued after a wrestler died after an accidental fall from the rafters. I think his death was announced to the public during the event but not to the attending fans. Also it was PPV I believe. I don't remember exactly and I'm doing this from memory but I do remember it was 1999.

I checked, the PPV crowd didn't see the fall or the medical team working on the Wrestler (Owen Hart) during the broadcast. The announcer did make the PPV crowd aware of the horrible accident while Owen was being worked on.

Owen Hart. He died during the event, and yes, it continued without anyone in attendance knowing.

We can say all we want about Bungles fans and how dumb and thoughtless they are but I will give them credit that night. They all got the seriousness of that moment and understood enough to not be making a scene. They were great that night. Now other nights we'll reserve judges.

Agree. Could you imagine them cancelling the game in Philly with the same playoff seedings against Dallas? That city would still be smoking from all the riots and fires.

I realise your not asking me specifically but imho I dont think the way it was handled would have been any different with any other team or situation.

I’m not a fan of Bart Scott. But he is getting unjust criticism over an answer he gave to Loud Mouth Stephen A when he wanted to know about the collision with Higgins.

I saw nothing wrong with his answer.

He blamed Higgins for a routine football play. Higgins is getting tons of criticism and death threats by people dumber than a napkin if they think Higgins is at fault for what happened to Hamlin.
