Because Tomlin sucks. Pouncey at least gave his body to the game and played well for a decade.

I agree with you about Pouncey. I think he was one hell of a player. And I actually agree about Tomlin over the last few seasons. But you’re still doing the same thing with Tomlin that others are doing with Pouncey.

I think he should have retired a couple years ago.

Pouncey was a great steeler Center IMO for most of his career. Seems like his career was cut short though. Wonder what is up with his health? The attitude and disrespect to Pouncey from some fans is classless and moronic. I hate to see him go but if he's health is keeping him from playing at a high level then it's time to retire. I was wondering if he could play Guard next year. oh well

He struggles against big DT's, I doubt he would do any better at guard.

I don't know if he is disrespected, people are just frustrated he isn't playing at the same level he used too.

Yes he was playing in a 3-4 division and most the NT'S in said division was like 340 plus ..I have to do a bit of research ,but he like 310 or so I think..You can't give up that much weight and stay healthy..We already know he not stay healthy the question is was that because he was not big enough ..

The fact he wasn't super bulky and could move really well for a center is what made him special. He used to be an amazing run blocker. Unfortunately, 10 years on, that's no longer the case.

    6-4, 310.....not small

I’d take a look around the league at the top rated centers, I think you’ll be surprised at their size.

In the AFC North, starting centers for the Browns and Ravens

    JC Tretter, 6-4, 307
    Patrick Mekari, 6-4, 308

    Steelers notable Past centers

    Mike Webster, 6-1, 255
    Dermontti Dawson, 6-2, 288
    Jeff Hastings, 6-3, 299

Is why I wanted him to move to guard..A defense will sell their soul to control the A gap the Ravens would use NGhata not sure how you spell it at like 350 plus then use LB'S and basically try and go 3 on 1 ... Not to mention the Center has to give up a Arm to make the snap...I have never liked small guys at that spot it's really bad math IMO.. Had we moved him to Guard he probably would have had 2 or 3 more years left at a better level than what we have seen the last 3 ...

Maybe its just me and my scheme or belief if you will ,but I have always liked my speed at the Guards ...A common theme for me after the 3 middle schools combined and entered HS was to look for the FB'S that could get out in space and had some size and liked contact we converted a lot in my day I mean we only really needed 1 FB so was logical I thought...

1 thing is both those Teams in the AFC North have mobile QB'S and use zone read and PA boot concepts they really don't live tearing up the A gaps.. Now with a QB who is no threat to run the ideal attack is right up the gut and crash the ends...I need to look at some non mobile QB'S ...Who we got give me the top 3 ..I know Ben is #1...

I think they should draft the Willis kid from Liberty University former Auburn Quaterback transferred to Liberty that guy is a QB built like a running back with a cannon for a arm and can run the ball and probably can be drafted in the 6th round or signed as undrafted free agent.

Not many hall of fame QBs get pulled from a game, you let them play through it in most cases, it worked in the Colts game.

But it has been done before. The Rams decided to go with Marc Bulger over a HOF QB.

Pouncey was injured and couldn't play in SBXLV. With Pouncey... maybe Mendenhall didn't get blown up and fumbled.

I feel bad for Pouncey... Steelers had a window of Super Bowl opportunities from 2014-2017. The window shut and it probably won't open again until I'm in my 60's.

By saying he is undersized, you imply he's always been undersize...Ben has not always been immobile. Looking at some of the older QB's around the league

Andrus Peat, Saints, 6-7, 315 (Brees)
Ryan Jensen, Bucs, 6-4, 318 (Brady)
Chase Roullier, Washington, 6-4, 312 (Smith)
Corey Linsley, Packers, 6-3, 301 (Rodgers)
Garrett Bradbury, Vikings, 6-3, 305 (Cousins)

Who else do you want to look at?

Tedd Karras, Dolphins, 6-4, 305 (Fitzpatrick)

I mean I am not sure where this notion that centers were huge guys, as far as I remember they really never have been. They are usually the smallest, leanest on your Oline.

If I put that 301 pound pile of trash out at the curb even the garbage men wouldn't take it.

Let's look at the hall of fame centers

    Frank Gatski, 6-3, 233
    Jim Langer, 6-2, 250
    Bruce Matthews, 6-5, 305
    Kevin Mawae, 6-4, 289
    Jim Otto, 6-2, 255
    Jim Ringo, 6-1, 232
    Mike Webster, 6-1, 255
    Dedrmontti Dawson, 6-2, 288

Which actually brings a question. Those are the only offensive lineman in the hall of fame listed at Center. Will Pouncey end up in the hall of fame? Put PFF rankings aside, I know he was constantly rated low and sometimes last however, many times over the years when opposing defensive linemen were asked which players they hated playing against, Pouncey was constantly named until the last couple of years.
