Didn't Foster get into it with Geathers last year at practice, right after we signed him? Dude is either practicing really hard or just being an idiot.

I get where Foster is coming from somewhat but Geathers also has to show the coaching staff something and having that edge and aggression even in minicamp could make him stand out. However I don't want anyone blowing out a knee in June because of it either.

It's the norm this time of year, no harm no foul.

It's nothing unusual and shouldn't be surprising. Personally, I'm glad they've got a little fire in them.

Starting to think thats the case. Pouncey is the main cog on the line, Geathers is a nobody and wouldn't be missed if injured. iIs freaking mini camp, save it for when the pads are on.

of course he was a guy asked for by the long time defensive line coach. maybe there are some hurt feelings amongst the starters when made to look bad.

Yeah but there is that school of thought that says you play like you practice. I think come camp Foster is going to see a lot more fire out of the defense so he better hope it's 5 for 1. Porter is going to have his unit jaw ing that's for sure.

Geathers needs to chill before he hurts one of the starters on the O-line, if he wants to prove something do it on the field.

Maybe Mathis from the Eagles could handle this?

Well, since we don't know what Geathers supposedly did, we can't really know whether he needs to chill.

I got the sense that Foster's quote was from last year mid-season ,maybe I'm wrong though. Either way Geathers is a beast of a man that came in down some weight to try and make this team at the request of the D-line coach. I want him to push these O-line guys to make plays as they haven't shown the ability to dig the bigger physical guys out consistently. (Please note the bold/italicized/underlined word there)

Now if he's taking shots late....then I'm on the chill-out bandwagon...

    Yeah, exactly.

If Geathers is being an idiot he needs to cut it out. But if Pouncey and Foster are feeling butt-hurt because the guy is just practicing hard then maybe they should follow suit. A little fire out of this team may have prevented back-to-back 8-8 seasons.

I get that it's "only" June, but in two months it'll be "only" September and I can guarantee that the Pats aren't going to be playing patty-cake!

If Geather's plays by starting fights at the end of every play, then that's not a good long-term prospect... I thought we'd seen the back of Chris "play to five minutes after the whistle" Kemoeatu.

    But I take your point.

All it would take is for Pounce to fall on his wrist wrong and bye bye season. Im all for practicing hard but this is mini camp for crying out loud, dial it down.

I always have a knot in my stomach during camp, that team that lost there #1 pick for the season on the very first day of rookie camp, gut wrenching.

not that i want to see it but if any year, this would be the one that we have that spot covered the best. they are not pouncey but we have some pretty good ones in here this year. at least a far cry from most years.

I don't have the answer, but im sure their are few injuries if any from two hot heads blowing steam in the grass. These "fights" using the term lightly is something the media likes to ratchet up for some noise. I understand the concern but these are big boys with big panties!

    What we know.
Geathers is a large human being.
Geathers has a big NFL pedigree.
Geathers has failed to live up to his potential.
Geathers is aggressive in Practice. ITS PRACTICE !!!!
Geathers is aggressive in summertime shorts.

What we need!!!!! A NFL 3-4 DE....... ON GAME DAY !!!!!!

    You forgot:
Geathers has bounced around to 7 other teams (4 in his first year),
Geathers was never really coached up to be a DE his first 4 years.
Geathers is a big man in general. (I personally think if they have him and Shade Tree in there and can get them to get their hands up in passing downs....
