The Steelers took Tee Martin in the 5th. In hindsight, the Patriots made a lot of teams look stupid in the 2000 draft.

The Steelers did the same thing with Antonio Brown in the 6th in 2010.

Yes. It was from the days back on the board on Steelers.com. I believe it was the run up to SB40 (I could be wrong).

PimplyDan said" "They need to win some games and they can no lose any more games!"

I think the Steelers ran the table after that and backed into the playoffs as the 6th seed. The rest is history (if I'm right about the season). Other posters on here can verify the correct timeframe.

This seems so reasonable to me. He is careful with the ball, offers another running threat, has a great team-first attitude, and has significant NFL experience. Will he win many games on his talent like Ben does, likely no. But will he not lose games and let the talent around him do the work? I think that's entirely realistic.

I am with you Turtle and stated this in the Bull Nunn room, Steelers will move if they like a certain QB.

Only 3 QB's drafted after the 36th pick overall not named Brady have even made it to the Super Bowl in the last 13 years

Brady, Russell Wilson, Kurt Warner, and Matt Hasslebeck That's it..that's the list...and only Drew Brees, and Colin Kaepernick were 2nd round picks.

You want to win a Super Bowl...you need to do 1 of 3 things....get a 1st round QB or have a record setting defense or draft the greatest QB to ever play the game.

Caller on morning fan suggested Geno Smith as a possible " solution" in 2018. I nearly drove off a cliff lol.

I tend to favor the stat that emphasizes more recent history, considering the importance of passing inntoday’s game.

You have the correct time frame. It was the 2005 season. I'm not sure whether you've got the quote perfectly, but it's definitely very close. For some reason I have in my head the phrase "wine some games" with "win" misspelled. Maybe that was the thread title.

Put me in the Taylor camp. It is highly likely he will be available after this year, and if you take a look at the Bills FA of recent years, they all go on to perform at a high level on their new teams. I think Taylor is a victim of a failing team culture, and has all the tools to be a good quarterback.

that would be in the last 4-5 years then. with the way so many qb's come out of college without running a pro style offense, it really narrows the pool. mostly for that i want a guy thats been in the league already. why waste the years of a seasoned vet team waiting for a guy to learn the pro game. i am really leaning towards keenum or cousins but the money will make a huge difference. not sure we can afford either. ferguson or benkurt seem intriguing. probably could be had in the 2nd.

Maybe. Someone on this board posted a screenshot of the actual pimply dan thread from the old board several months back. I need to find it.

Indeed - I had a quick look back for it but the photobucket account doesn’t show it anymore.

It’s a screenshot for the ages and no mistake.

My non-Steeler fan family have said if Ben retires this year they should still try to win NOW with all the talent we have on this team.

They say Steelers should go after Kirk Cousins in the off-season (if Ben calls it quits).

I can't say I would be mad at that...

Lol - I just googled "pimplydan" and supposedly the link to the thread with his infamous quote from this site is the 2nd option, but it's 44 pages.

I knew TTF would come through!

Elvis was right, winning was spelled wrong, I thought he spelled "lose" as "loose".

Couple weeks away from the 12 year anniversary of that gem. Time fly's!
