As I recall, he did pretty well all things considered. I'll have to rewatch it to know for sure, though.

Was Gilbert eligible on that last play? Or does it matter on a lateral ?

Doesn't matter on a lateral. He wasn't technically a receiver catching a forward pass.

My biggest complaint is that this organization appears to be dead from the neck up. Play calling, penalties, execution, personnel, discipline, gaffes, the sideline thing, clock management. They're dain bramaged as Bill Cosby would say.

Looks that way! Watching balls bounce around on the ground, lack of understanding the rules, the game situation, etc. This is not a new problem, it's been there for awhile!

Yeah I think we fans often take it harder than the players (hey Mike, guess what? I just made about $600k for inexplicably stepping out of bounds and ending any remote chance we had of making the playoffs? Wanna get a beer?) Of course they have their millions to console them. Only thing I heard him say afterward was that he thought he had scored. It didn't seem to be tearing him up inside like you might think. Then again, it is a game and when you get used to losing it can become like a disease. Losing is the new standard and thus it comes as no surprise when they choke yet again. Even the fans are getting used to it and the one poster set it well. You know it's bad when you even f up a miracle.....

Not getting the hate on Brown for stepping OOB here. The man busted his ass and made some nice moves when he should've been tackled earlier just to get in that situation. DB had just enough of an angle to squeeze him enough onto the sideline. I actually thought he made a helluva play.

I thought about that too but I'm not sure if they reviewed it. Did they? I can't remember.

Well in that situation he's trying to make sure he has separation and he didn't want to put too much into the cut due to the field conditions. He barely stepped out, would have been a great play, but it never should have come down to relying on him to toe the sideline for a win!

They never called it a TD on the field "Officially".

I happen to agree but I didn't feel like arguing about it. There was a fine line between getting around the DB and stepping out. It wasn't a stupid mistake it was just unfortunate like our entire season. Some teams catch all the breaks. We have been pissing in the wind all year.

Oh that, yes they did. They took a whole lot of time reviewing that.

Ben's "lateral" was a forward pass. That play would never have been upheld. Brown stepping out of bounds is of little consequence. Atleast it gave us some hope for about 3 seconds :lolol:

I would agree. Brown is far and away the best playmaker we've got and he was trying to make a play. It's unfortunate that his sideline awareness failed him there, but at game speed in snowy conditions with a defensive back trying to take the angle away, I'm sure it was a challenge. I was MUCH MORE perturbed at his mid-field jersey exchange and his light-hearted pleasantries with Mike Wallace immediately after a game that all but eliminated us from the playoff hunt. If you want to greet a friend after a tough loss, I'd like to see a player with a frown on his face with a quick exchange/pat on the back and maybe an I'll call you later or something. Hey, but that's just me, the irrational fan.

I still believe it was a lateral. If you watch the gif that TTF posted, it looks like the release pont is well ahead of Ben's body. If you look at where his body is, it does look like a forward pass but his arm is well in front of his body making it a legal lateral IMO.

Ok, I thought it was just me. It should have never come to down that ridiculous play in the first place. AB busted hs behind to get that far and got squeezed along the sidelines. How anyone can pissed about him stepping on the line is beyond me. He was the best shot we had and he tried - it just didnt work out.
