His stubbornness is costing us games. Why is no one asking the question why we went away from the success we were having last year pre injury.

    You just did...
And I think it`s the best question I`ve read in all these threads.
Why was Haley`s system working so well the first half of last season, and we can`t score a point, now?
OK, to be fair, we did rally there, in the second half, a bit, but basically, at the beginning of last year, we looked like an offense with a plan, and were at LEAST moving the ball effectively.
    Since Ben`s injury, NO.
    What gives?
    Ben`s "stubbornness"?
Ben`s (and the rest of the team`s), lack of ball security?
    Lack of Heath?
    Lack of Mike Wallace?
Complete lack of a running game?
    Different offensive game-planning?
    Pathetic blocking by the O-line?
I don`t know, but it`s getting painful to watch...
Literally, I went outside and put my fist thru the door of our wooden shed, before halftime, after one of our turnovers, and my hand was throbbing this morning... LOL.
Not the most mature thing in the world to do, but, dammit, sometimes those late games just give me entirely too much pre-game drinking time...
And the turnovers have gotten EXTREMELY frustrating!!!
So, now I have a shed door to replace, and a rather unhappy with me, girlfriend....
Can I blame Tomlin for that, too?
    LOL...
Anyways, I`ll keep watching, and hoping they fix whatever is wrong with them, but I do think It`s a great question, why we seemed to be on the right track, at the beginning of last year, and since Ben got hurt, seem to have completeley gone off the rails!!!
    GO STEELERS!!!

Been there, done that, and it wasn't much fun (that was before last night). :smiley1:
So thanks, for once again raising the question.

What typically is replied to this question is that Haley's system wasn't working on first and second down and that Ben bailed them out on third down. How they can determine what is Haley and what is Ben I still haven't figured out yet.

Cutler was getting rid of the ball in under 3 seconds, often under 2 seconds. He threw for 159 yards. Short passing game isn't as great as people try to build it up to be. Unless your name is Tom Brady and even his numbers are suffering now that his weapons are gone.

It probably has something to do with who we played in that stretch of awesome offensive football. NOBODY. We beat some scrub teams and got beaten by good teams. You're also forgetting that our "success" early last year was largely based on Ben bailing out the offense on 3rd down. This offense simply wasn't that good and it's just continued into this season.

That's essentially my answer, though I'll put it more simply. Opposing defense & personnel.

I think the closest we will ever see Tomlin in a meltdown is when he made his "unleash" comment.

YEP! And I've NEVER forgotten it and I've told TONS of people about it and they're like "that's just weird!" and I'm like "nope. that's just fandom!" I'm not one to judge a man for losing his mind for his team. LOL. I was saying this last night and maybe you didn't read it but I got home from church and turned on the tv literally as the Bears took the field for their first drive and saw our corners playing 5 yards off the ball and I said "ALL NIGHT!!! AGAIN!!!" and Ben started running through the house saying "ALL NIGHT!!! AGAIN!!!" LOL!

Even funnier isn't just that I punched it. I knocked it completely off its post, then proceeded to beat it until it was flat as a pancake. Then kicked the post until it was out of the ground.

But I'm feeling much better now... ;)

(Immediate, post game rage from the '94 AFFCG against the Chargers for those curious now that THAT cat is out of the bag. :roflmao:)

My wife didn't think it was funny. She threatened to call the base mental health clinic and make me talk to someone about my "issues." (We had only been married for 2 years at that point and she never saw me get "violent" before that. I scared her.)

Turns out it wasn't a threat. I had to go talk to one of the Docs with her present. He asked me what happened. I explained everything. He asked me several questions after that. Then he turned to my wife and said (I kid you not) "Well, his reaction was a little extreme, but not completely abnormal under the circumstances. Sports fans can get a little unhealthy in their obsession. But he's not a danger to himself or anyone else. Get him a heavy bag for next season."

    And she did! :lolol:

Now I just yell and scream a lot.

Yeah I just scream at the tv. When AB dropped a pass in the red zone last night I just KEPT screaming "$48 MILLION!!! $48 MILLION!!! $48 MILLION!!!" When Redman fumbled I was just like "HOLD THE FOOTBALL!!! YOU GET PAID TO DO ONE THING!!! HOLD THE FOOTBALL!!!" and I mean LOUDLY! LOL! If someone accused me of anger issues I would just say "not at all! i have a constructive criticism issue!" LOL.

My neighbor across the street jokes that he doesn't even have to watch the game to know how the Steelers are doing... at least until it gets cold and everyone's windows are closed. Funny thing is I'm a very quiet and reserved guy otherwise.

I am guessing that if we had a message board back in the early 2000's we could change the name from "Tomlin" to "Cowher" and the posts would be pretty similar. The notion that the Rooneys are firing Tomlin any time soon is ridiculous.

We did have one. It was on the official site. (When that closed down, TTF made this one and many of us followed)

    And...

    You're not wrong. ;)

(For the record, I'm not officially calling for anyone to be fired.... yet. But I would like some real answers to at least have something to wrap my head around. Some honesty rather than platitudes would be nice)

Edit: it's possible I'm confused and I'm really thinking of my old usenet days. The Steelers usenet made even the grumpiest, knee jerk guy here seem reasonable, polite, even tempered, patient, and well mannered. :lolol:

Nice that was awhile back. Now they'd probably put you through a few months of intense talk sessions.
