Thanks GoalLine. Had a lot of fun posting this; quite awkward considering I still need some All 22 tape and basing this just off of memory.

All the Steelers are asking Jones to do is manage the game until Ben is back. That's it just manage it and don't screw up too badly. Landry Jones can only be Landry Jones those expecting him to be the next Ben, be Ben, or greater than Ben are setting themselves up for failure. He can only be himself and since the team isn't game planning or developing him based on his strengths there will be few moments where he looks like anything more than a backup. I'm absolutely positive (knock on wood, turn three times) that if Ben was out for the season and they had to roll with Jones, there would be wholesale changes in the way they approach play calling, game planning, practice and Jones' development but as it stands the plan is just don't frak it up.

There was one receiver in particular who looked bad... 16 Isaac Blakeney.

A better receiver on the field in his place, and we might be feeling better about Vaugn at QB.

To all the Landy Jones haterz... maybe we can bring back Kordell Stewart? I haven't seen this much hate for a Steelers QB since Kordell. :laughs: Maddox after the Jacksonville game in '05 was pretty bad, too... but at least that was a regular season game and fans had every right to break stuff and throw tantrums.

Most of the big plays were holes in the defense. Inability to trackle. Just like every other year for a long time. These boys need to be taught how to wrap up and tackle. sheesh

We have good players on D, but we don't have a Polamalu playmaker. Shazier could be perhaps, but hasn't yet. Heyward/Tuitt/Timmons are all great too, but players like that are what is needed to set up players like a Polamalu to make plays. So back in the day, their counterparts were Aaron Smith/Kiesel/Hampton/Farrior.

Obviously you don't just simply replace players like Polamalu, but it is clear that who they have tried to fit into the hole haven't been able to do much if anything. Maybe this year Mitchell takes a step up.

Did you see Shazier play in the playoff game in Cincy? The guy has definitely shown he can be a playmaker.

Matt Flynn is a bum stole money when he got that big free agent contract, a free agent QB would need time to learn the playbook he would be useless like Vick was last season.

Hey steelersrule are you using Chrome? I've actually had the same problem you are having. You are the only other person I have seen who has that problem. Just curious is all.

I'm not so sure about that knowing the playbook stuff. Wasn't it Ryan Mallet who joined the Ravens in the middle of the week and beat us?

I was going by what we heard from the media, Haley scaled back the playbook when Vick started. Just about every QB that faced the Steelers defense last season put up numbers

I remember when Vick came in and looked terrible and the excuse by the media was "he's only had seven weeks to learn the playbook"
Ryan Mallet comes in after a few days and whips us.
I'd like to see somebody scale Vick. Lol

Just because Mallett threw on the Steelers doesn't mean he knew the whole Ravens playbook.

Mallett also benefitted from a solid defense and our offense playing poorly.

Ben did a similar thing in his rookie season, if I remember correctly. Not saying Mallett is Ben, of course.

That because we do what we do and don't concern ourselves with what other teams do. Translation we don't care if he is only a week in the system we will use the same game plan we do with Flacco

Obviously lol. It is the standard response on whether or not they are going to change a game plan for a rookie, a recent signing or attack a specific weakness in an opposing team. Which is probably why his record against weaker opponents is up and down.
