I got to thinking about the last few games when pouncey played guard. what if we left him there and drafted barrett jones? i think with his speed he would be able to pull alot better than colon. If we even keep colon. we could have gilbert pouncey jones decastro colon as our line or keep starks and keep gilbert at right tackle. just thinking

Pouncey is a good center, but by no means is he a Webster or Dawson. So moving him to guard shouldn't be an issue if someone better comes along to play center.

I think he is fine where he is at, he could stand to be a little more stout at the point of attack, but all he needs to focus on really is staying healthy.

i would put jones on left tackle and go with jones colon pouncey decastro adams
if adams can become a lt i would put jones at left guard and gilber at right tackle
anyway jones give us a lot of oppurtinity to find a great line , now we should take an oline coach that will not ruin them

I thought they should have put Legursky at center and moved Pouncey to guard from the beginning of the season. I can't remember which game it was that Colon was hurt and they finally brought legursky in and moved Pouncey to guard...but I thought our O-line looked the best all year for that particular game. I think the following week Colon came back and played and the Oline never looked the same.

and just to be clear...I'm not saying Legursky is better at Center by no means. I'm simply saying Legursky/Pouncey on the field together is better in my opinion than Pouncey/Colon (or any other fill in at left guard for that matter)

Once again, DOES ANYBODY FEEL THAT POUNCEY IS OVERATED?
Boy, the games I watched, he got manhandled alot out there.
Once again I ask you people, about our strength and conditioning coach.
Can our OL benefit from a new strength and conditioning coach
    I THINK THEY CAN.

I don't think he is overrated. I think we need one more stud guard. One that can actually move his feet and be in shape enough to pull. If we were solid at both guard positions, we might see less of him trying to do too much too often. Maybe the guards would be able to help him sometimes. Maybe he could stay healthier and just worry about the guy over him, the occasional double-team/chip, and that second-level crushing he seems to live for.

I know...maybe, maybe, maybe. Maybe a tackle with great footwork, too?

    \asks for too much

That was the second ravens game. We protected Charlie very well. I immediately thought the same thing about pouncey. Move him to guard and put doug in at center. If we had done that plus letting ben rest for another game or two, we probably would have gotten in the playoffs. This all falls on the coaches. Tomlin has no ability to adapt to anything.

it's coming and i agree with you as most know. at least guys matched up by skillset inside.

would malecki be cheaper then legursky? if legs can't play guard well enough, why not change?

i've never been overly high on gilbert and thought that pick was a reach for him, but he is what he is.

beachum has played well and i think they are happy about it. his exit video on steelers HP seems to suggest he has also looked good at guard pulling. it also does suggest that they liked him at tackle too. he talks about those long arms that he has and it helping him since he's short for a T.

i've said this about him since we got him. it makes a difference. his arms are 3/4 of an inch shorter then the 6-7 adams. one of the local sports guys laughed and said do you have 6-6 arms? beachum just kind of laughed, but you could tell he was thinking, yes.

he and DD would raise the IQ of the line by sevral points.

one more piece of the puzzle is due and this could be a good line for awhile.

i hope they step up and get them a good coach.

Pouncey needs to just finish up his contract here. Guy is like owning a corvette in Alaska. Spends more time in the garage. After he is done, let someone else store him in their garage.
