But doesn't it make you wonder if they wouldn't be that much better with better conditioning? Take Ben and give him the work out ethic of AB or James and it makes me think?

I didn't see Ben on the sideline of the Giants game, from what I saw of Ben at training camp he looked the same to me .

Ben is packing a lot of xtra weight, seems strange with his history of knee problems

but as coach cliche says, it is what it is. Ben is so athletic, watch him play basketball /golf

makes things look easy, father time catches up though.

A year or two ago all the writers were saying Ben hired a trainer in the offseason and he did come in really trim that year...

Yes, and he was noticeably more trim that year, but after the season started, he did revert back to large-pizza and 12-pack Ben pretty quickly. Bettis often did the same thing.

My wife thought she was gonna try a 13.1 marathon but wound up not going through with it. You ever heard of that crazy like marathon/scavenger hunt thing they do down towards West TN ever year and you have to get invited to it and literally less than like 50 people have ever been able to finish it or something? I saw a documentary about it once but I can't think of the name of it to save my life. It's supposed to be the most hardcore pinnacle of a marathon you can possibly run and I think even olympic athletes haven't been able to finish it before.

The only thing that bothers me with the extra pounds is his ability to get out of jams and then gets hit awkwardly from the side or back. I think the extra weight he is just more prone to injuries and makes just a little slower and he needs all the help he can get at his age.

My daughter is a fairly accomplished marathon runner and does right around 3 hour marathons (she is 52) and recently in the last couple of years has started running in ultra marathons of anywhere from 60 to 100 miles. She was in a 24 hour marathon in Minneapolis last year and did well. I trust she knows herself and her body well but it worries me when the distances are so high.

Actually, for Ben, he looks fairly good. Maybe he had something under his jersey before the game?

I agree, he even shows some striations in his delts, which fat people don't usually have. If these are legit recent photos, he is in good enough shape. I used to be slightly irked at him carrying too much fat, as there are very few athletic positions where having extra fat doesn't detract from performance (i.e. sumo wrestlers, O linemen, to a degree) and QB isn't one of them. Being overweight does add to higher chance of injuries as well (it can't help his knees). But all that being said, he has proven he can play at a high level while carrying some extra LBs. Some claim it provides him some extra "cushion" when taking hits.
