Depends on what position and/or side of the football one is referring to.

    Offense? Players.

    Defense? Coaching/Players (75% Coaching/25% players).

    Special Teams? Coaching.

It's the culture that is set, drilled into their heads, and demanded. So, I will say the coaches.

I always wonder what they consider a missed tackle, if you make a great effort to get there and only get a hand on him is that a miss. But if you leave yourself to be engaged by a blocker ( Bud D ) and watch the run play go right by its not a miss.

To answer your question the stats speak for themselves Bostic and Vince were two of the best tacklers on the team. But I suspect they both have high percentages in the run game but are not close enough to be charged with a miss in the passing game.

Poor scheme and lousy coaching can undermine talent anytime.

Great coaches put players in position to excel and know how to get the most out of their talents , and they don 't put them in situations where they are over matched and destined to fail.

I still think coaching has ruined Burns, he was much better as a raw rookie and has only regressed badly since. Even Davis played better in his first yr and maybe now has gotten back to that level again after a poor second year.
If players are not progressing and getting better with experience then it has to be coaching, baring injury of course.

Burns looks like he is too slow to process plays.

That’s why I say just put him in situations where he doesn’t have to think much. Just give him one guy and tell him to follow him and play press man.

Yeah, I'd say the problem was communication in the secondary again or just a poor scheme the players were following.

    3rd and 20...wide open...

IMO it's mostly coaching. I think the lack of accountability is the main culprit. We could use some better talent in some area's, but I don't feel we get the most out of the talent we have.

@LoneGranger nice write up, I have said many times I feel there is a lot of talent on this team, on both sides of the ball. My problem is scheme and that stems IMO from the disconnect between Tomlin and Butler. Butler or Tomlin have to go for this team to get better, Butler is a 3-4 learn from the best and Tomlin is not. If ownership is gonna keep Tomlin then Butler has to go. So I guess my answer would be coaching 90% to blame.
