Didn't a few years ago Ron Cook proclaim Ben Roethlisberger was the Steelers greatest quarterback?

Poll Question: Who is the Pittsburgh Steelers greatest quarterback ever?

The only people who would not vote for Bradshaw are people who are not old enough to have watched him.

Big Dumb isn’t remotely in the same conversation.

Bradshaw had hall of famers surrounding him everywhere. He was loaded. He didn't face free agency.

    Ben for me.

Bradshaw really sucked his first few years. He didn't start playing well until he got a great supporting cast.

Ben took the league by storm early in his rookie season. He even won the Super Bowl after the 08 season with an offensive line that was truly offensive.

I know someone is going to bring up the number of SB wins but using that as the deciding factor would also mean that Flacco is better than Marino, Tarkenton, or Fouts were. The fact is, Bradshaw had four future HOFers playing with him on offense while they were all in their prime. Ben never had that luxury.

    I'm going with Ben.

On a side note. We've had a similar poll for WR and could just as easily have polls on RB (Franco, Bettis Bell), center (Webster, Dawson) CB(Blount Woodson) and safty (Shell Troy). We've been fortunate to have seen so many greats on this team.

I think a more interesting poll would be who would rank 3rd best all time?

I've stated many times on this board that if I had one quarterback to win one Super Bowl I'd take Terry over any QB in history, including Joe Montana and Tom Brady. Ben is the better statistical quarterback and the rules favor the offense now much more than in Bradshaw's days, but the fact is that every time Bradshaw needed to come up big on the biggest stage he did. Every single time! That's what differentiates him from Ben and makes him the greatest quarterback in Steeler history in my mind. Ben has been mediocre to average in most of his Super Bowl action. He absolutely sucked wind in his first Super Bowl against the Seahawks with the lowest passer rating of any winning quarterback in Super Bowl history. I'll give him credit in the Super Bowl against the Cards in that he delivered a magical drive (with Holmes doing most of the heavy lifting...YAC) and a beautiful pass for the win. His performance against the Pack was just okay. He had his moments but also had two crucial interceptions and was not able to bring the team back late with the game in the balance. Of course he was trying to force the ball to Mikey "diva" Wallace. But Bradshaw delivered big pass after big pass at times the games were in doubt and his average TD pass in his Super Bowls was around 40 yards. By the way, Brady's is around 10.

No question in my mind. TERRY BRADSHAW IS THE GREATEST QUARTERBACK IN STEELER HISTORY AND IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SUPER BOWLS!

How can you say Holmes did the heavy lifting for Ben wouldnt it follow that obviously TB had two hall of fame receivers that also did the heavy lifting for him???

Don't misunderstand me, what I was referring to was YAC primarily. Ben had the short pass that Holmes nearly took to the house. In Bradshaw's Super Bowls, it seemed that he was "gripping and ripping it" down the field on nearly every throw. No dink and dunk crap. I'm not minimizing what Ben and Holmes did, it was definitely a drive for the ages and ranks near the top of any drive in Steelers history, but Bradshaw has had way more big moments in Super Bowls than Ben and any other quarterback who's ever played in the big game.

That's easy, Jefferson Street Joe Gilliam. He wouldn't follow the game plan, so he didn't get enough reps (and I think he threw 3 picks on 7 incomplete passes in one quarter, or something like that.)

I would agree. Kordell did take us to AFC Championship games in 1997 and 2001. He just never got us over the hump to the Super Bowl.

Kordell was a heck of an athlete. He could do some amazing things with his legs, and he could of been a legit NFL WR if he wanted to be.

As bad as I hate to say it, Neil O'Donnell. If you didn't play in a Super Bowl, you don't qualify. If O'Donnell had focused on being the quarterback of the Steelers instead of signing an offer sheet with Bucs and then leaving with the Jets, I believe he would have had the opportunity to play in another Super Bowl or two. They had the pieces in place and he thought the grass was greener with the Jets.
