agree on JB, he is young and may develop into a solid backup. May never be a starter, but a solid backup/ role player.

The only one I voted for was Ike, I've lost confidence in him. No one else has a worthy backup.
I would have voted for Cam Thomas.

i'm not voting on any one player, but i'd like to see more of a rotation of guys like moats, DHB, spence, adams, munchaks johnson, tuitt, mccullers, shamarko, gay, webb, blake, etc.

i'd really like to see the big group one time of JB,DHB and bryant. i'm curious what that might look like for ben. blount also hasn't impressed me yet either.

I want to see Mattavis get some snaps, when he is hot he is as good as most of the receivers on this team.

also Vince Williams for Shazier, he is the only guy who plays with an attitude.

Has Moats even played? I literally can't think of a time when I've seen him.

If something isn't working, why not
give somebody else a chance? The Rooney's
are paying these coaches BIG MONEY to put these guys into a position to succeed, The Steelers coaches have to motivate/ coach up these players. The Steeler coaches should be asking themselves how can I get these players to over achieve.

Ike for sure can sit for a bit. Not TP.. Need him . He is still pretty quick.. He has lost a step but I like his chances for a couple of splash plays. Mitchell gets a pass until I see him against Carolina. After that if he has another bad game he too can sit and ride the pine.

that's what I'm talking about. Hell if the players are going to play like they're still training then let all of them get into the training during a real game.

    Like it has been said

we believe our oline and offense is great but we realize who they practice against as well as our defense practices against our offense and we know the play calling on down is horrid,

    why not mix it up

While I agree with blast it's a bit premature to bench most of who's listed I did vote. I voted for Ike 1st. He has stone hands as always but now he's getting beat virtually every play. He's a flag magnet. I also voted for Mitchell. He'll be a good player for us but after missing camp time and some preseason time his understanding of this defense and timing/communication/trust with Troy is weak. I'd start Shark and rotate Mitchell in.

I'd flat out cut baby zilla. Cam Thomas is the worse FA signing in recent memory.

Just to update the results, 34 people have voted so far.

61% think we should bench Ike (and start Gay)
He's the only one to get more than 50% of the total votes.

The next 3 with more votes:
41% Bench Gilbert and start Adams
41% think DHB should be ahead of J Brown
    32%, bench Mitchell and start W Allen/Golden

Can one good performance vs Carolina of anyone of them put them off that list?
I remember threads about benching Ike since... well, Thesteelersfans wasn't even founded yet when those threads were common at the old steelers boards, remember?

I never ever ever ever want to see that trio on the field at the same time. Brown alone has more skill than all of them combined, and Wheaton is better than two of them combined. If we ever see those three on the field together, we are headed for disaster.

Really? Based on what evidence? Do you not see what Brown and Wheaton are doing out there?

Yeah, same here. If their play doesn't improve then maybe after the TB game we bring in the two rookies, Wes Johnson and Tuitt to replace those two.

I think Gilbert will get to be more consistent, but Thomas, not so sure. Let's gradually build up Tuitt's playing time so he's the starter sooner than later. If anyone is coming in for Gilbert I want it to be Johnson, and not Adams. Our pass protection has to improve, not implode!

Yes, if you're looking for him at the line of scrimmage, you'll never find him. Search 5 yards behind, close to the spot where the LBs are.

Tuitt needs to start getting more snaps and Cam Thomas less.

I would have thought Cam Thomas being replaced by Tuitt would have been the first choice.

The biggest problem I see with Mitchell and Cam is I think their mistakes are not curable in the short term. Mitchell comes up quick for the run but is easily side stepped and he continues to whiff. For a safety this is terrible and we will have many long runs by running backs against us.

What makes this even worse is we got Cam Thomas getting so pushed back into the linebacker area. Is he really that weak? I don't think their problems can fixed or coached up.

I have thought Tomlin and coaching staff have not been doing a good job the last couple of years. But we also got some bad starters that coaching will not help. Sad to say the near future does not look good, not because we lost but how we are playing, executing, drafting and coaches that won't make changes.

The main question is how long will it take for the Rooney's to make a move.. Another 8 and 8 year? Or 2 more 8 and 8 years?

size. we wanted size, now have some and they are never on the field to see if size can work for ben. nobody ever said they were better then the rest just way bigger. red zone maybe? that's where their size was supposed to make a difference. also as much as we go 4 and 5 wide, why not?

My favorite thing about this poll, is that it points out our problems aren`t that easy to fix...
Love or hate the coaching staff, they are pretty much playing the best available...
I voted for Mitchell, just because I felt I had to vote, once I took the poll, and he had the best options available behind him...
For the most part, I think they are doing the best they can, with what they got.
    Shame that may be...
And I really don`t wanna pull the plug on Mitchell, but he hasn`t shown me much, yet...
He has the most potential behind him on the depth chart out of this list...
Hate to say it, but we don`t have the talent on the bench, that we are used to.
    Cold Hard Fact...
Who we have, just have to play better, for now!:praying::herewego!:
