I don't think that players care that much about who the coach is, near as much as they care about where they have the best chance to win: Players may not like Belichick, but they know he gives them the best chance to win.........

From your view points, I just gathered money wasn't as important to you as others. But maybe it's just that you don't think it should be important to other people :lolol:

Tell me you don't believe that? That's probably the worst example you could have come up with, Revis?!? Hes the most money hungry athlete out there.

Well, it's not the EABA but it's important. It's nice to be able to live comfortably, support your family, take a vacation now and again, practice philanthropy and the like. I'm not sure what viewpoints you're referring to but I would suspect maybe it centers around some of the comments I made about Kiesel and "minimum wage". I think to be a good capitalist at times you need to take some calculated risks and at other times you need to realize that you need to take what's on the table. Look at what happened to James Harrison last season. He took a calculated risk and failed miserably. Now the same thing may not happen to Kiesel, who knows? But from my perspective he ought to strongly consider playing this upcoming season for the vet min and bank about another million dollars. That's not too shabby. If not, he may end up back in Wyoming endorsing bows, arrows and other sporting goods for $75,000 a year. A true capitalist bases his aspirations on reality and these idiotic agents get in the way sometimes. I realize that there are agents that have gotten their clients a bundle of cash and there are also agents that have blown it for their clients as well.

Well, we got one this afternoon. I would have preferred MJD over Blount, who seems to be a head case, but this is good news.

That Revis signed below market value was reported through several media outlets. This was just one of them.

Below market value as it pertained to his Tampa contract which was 16 million a year. He had no offers for more then the 12 million he got from NE. He had an offer from Denver for 54 million over 6 years but held firm to his demand for 12 million a year which NE ultimately gave him when they entered the picture.

You're talking about a guy who held out, got the contract he wanted then threatened to hold out again for a new contract before the ink was barely dry. Please, Revis is not giving anyone a discount.

we all know that money is a factor, but so is scheme and playing time........ I pretty much figured MJD was a pipe dream. he wants to be the main ball carrier and that was just not going to happen with us.... Woods hasn't really commented, but i'm pretty sure he would rather play in a 4-3 rather than a 3-4.....dwyer knew full well that he wasn't carrying the load unless bell gets hurt, and he'll get a chance to at least compete in arizona (although i strongly believe that the job is ellington's to lose) etc......

yeah that was cool that lance moore said he seen the 6 trophys and signed here.... and i think yeah most would like to play for tomlin... so i dont think we lose many because of tomlin.. i think a coach can turn a guy off and plays a bigger factor of keeping a guy from signing than make him sign with you.. what i mean is i thikn a guy might say i wouldnt want to play for that fat F andy reid.. or that clown ryan ... and automatically eliminate that team.. i dont think that happens with the steelers... then i think they look at the team and chances of winning.. not too many years ago the steelers were seen as a winner.. go to the steelers and have a chance to go to the super bowl EVERY year.. so a lot fo the older guys that knew their career was coming ot an end my consider going to the steelers to have a chance to win before they retired.. now we are NOT on of those teams.. thats why i thought it was odd for moore to be impressed by the trophy case rather then look at us as a average team with little chance to win a 7th lombardi... i think the number one factor for signing is money (and we have none of that) and to sign with a winner and we are an average team

I can just imagine the conversation between Revis and his agent:

Revis: I really want to go to New England. It's not all about the money.
Agent: OK, I've got them on the other line. Are there any other conditions?
Revis: Well, of course their offer has to beat everyone else's. I mean, it's not about the money, but I can't play for below my market value.
Agent: OK, they have an offer that will pay you $12 million in 2014. It's a one year deal, but it looks like a 2 year deal on paper. Does $12 million work?
Revis: Has anyone else offered $12,000,001?
    Agent: Nope.
Revis: Then I'll sign it…. because it's New England, and it's not all about the money.

    [later that day]

Agent: Congratulations Darrelle! It's official, you're a Patriot!
Revis: Awesome! Give them a call. I want to renegotiate my contract. I can't play for frickin $12 million….

if you look at it in perspective, would you rather have revis on your team for 12 mil. or lamar Woodley as dead money for 14.5 mil.?:hmmm::cool:

For pro athletes it's all about the money and then the chance to win, I don't think they choose teams based on the coaches.

If the money is in the right ball park, a "respectful offer", then org, staff, and a chance to win are the huge plays.
