That’s a good precaution but I’m assuming they must show up for a test, maybe like a drive through. Otherwise, 1 day is not going to make a difference. Better have those tests worked out.

    Hey Blast.

Again, as I stated in another post, the league blew it big time by not having at least some pre-season games. Besides other benefits (conditioning, building chemistry, etc.) pre-season games would have given the league somewhat of a "sample size" of data as to what to expect from the Covid-19 in respect to having a "real" game scenario. And Goofdell and company make how much money? Wow! Having some pre-season ball is just common sense IMO.

Now we go into the season basically clueless as to what a typical game situation will result in regarding the Covid-19. Just brilliant!

On the flip side, they could have been hoping states would have gotten the virus more under control by the start of the season.

They should have cancelled Thursday night games, that was a dumb non move.

Should've dropped Thursday nights altogether regardless of this virus. Doubly so due to it. It's all wonkey and we hope for the best. Be interesting to see how the college games played today get measured

Too much TV money to completely wipe out another night of football. I think they will continue to try and get good match-up on Thursdays to grow viewership and get more and more money

I hear ya but with this current transition into furthering safety under the current climate, whilst listening to players voices under the current climate etc... Money wins again I guess. Hahahahaha I'm hoping it don't turn into the **** show every arrow is pointing towards

Maybe they were scared of what might happen in preseason. Taking the extra time to see how the virus can be better controlled or how it can linger long-term possibly.

    Hey Blast.

Below is the Presidential Mandate. Not trying to make this a political issue, just facts.

“On April 16, 2020, the President unveiled the Opening Up America Again Guidelines, a three-phased, data-driven approach based on the advice of public health experts to help State and local officials reopen their economies and get people back to work”.

    See link below.

Your Quote Blast: "On the flip side, they could have been hoping states would have gotten the virus more under control by the start of the season".

I guess the emphasis is in the word "hoping". It carries s a lot of weight for sure.

At that point the Governors of each state proceeded as they saw fit depending on their state’s individual statistics, We know that a state like North Dakota in all likelihood was going to be able to move “faster” per se along the Phase 1-2-3 continuum than say New York. However, even in New York, a smaller town such as Troy was going to move quicker than say the Big Apple.

However, in the end, no matter what the demographic data was indicating per state, county and town /city, it still all came back to the sole responsibility of each citizen. If Troy, NY was doing well and they were able to progress to Phase 3 fairly rapidly but now became complacent and care-free (no masks, no social distancing, big house parties, etc.) they were setting themselves up for failure. With the President’s Opening Up America Again Guidelines, some (more like many) individuals mistook this April 16, 2020 directive as a “free-for-all” to return to those behaviors prior to the existence of Covid-19.

Seemingly, most citizens in this Great Country were “Good Boys & Girls” prior to the Opening Up America Again Guidelines were set-out. The Country seemed to be moving in the right direction with managing the Covid-19. Then came the carelessness and disregard for the Phase 1-2-3 protocol. You saw it; People on the beaches, big house parties, bars and clubs packing them in like sardines in a can. No masks, no social distancing. Also, throw in the thousands protesting, whom get no blame by most of the media for the Covid-19 resurgence (unbelievable). Not even a peep from what I have seen and I am an avid news watcher.

Nonetheless, a recipe for disaster. And sure enough it all came to fruition. Basically, a "Second Wave" of sorts of the Covid-19 resurgence. Initially, we saw it in those states that were most predictable. Those “Fun States” in the South: Florida, Texas, Southern California and others. Eventually, it spread like wildfire to other states in its path.

IMO, for the most part, we cannot blame the Federal, State and Local Governments on this “Second Wave”. This squarely comes back to the individual responsibility of each and every citizen. It is like any other law on the books. There are laws against armed robbery. Nonetheless people still do it. Again laws are there for a reason. And this is why we have to have Law Enforcement Agencies. Because there are going to be those individuals that want to play by their own rules unfortunately.

Wrapping it up, the "hoping" as you quoted is just that. We can hope for the estimated 331,002,651 people in this Great Country to obey the Rules/Laws and sure we can chastise people who do not (sometimes leading into unwanted heated discussions/arguments) but in the end it comes down to individual responsibility. As far as the Thursday Night Football, Yes, unnecessary. Just an opportunity (a bad one) for more unneeded exposure of people to one another.

It is not the match ups Thorn, are we really seeing football at it's finest when players could be ailing? I agree money talks? Really not a good situation for banged up players though.
