Play calling on offense wasn’t bad tonight.

    WR/TE’s dropped 9 or 10 passes.

It wasn’t bad, Steelers should have executed better, however....

Ravens had a depleted D line tonight, we couldn’t take advantage of that by running?

I have to disagree. Our game plan was too one dimensional. Didn’t establish any run game and rarely used play action; probably because we were in empty set so often.

Play calling wasn't the problem, but it could have been better. The problem with running so many empty set plays in short yardage is that there is no threat of the run. At least keep a back in to keep the defense honest.

Balls should have been caught. Balls should have been thrown better. All that being said, good play calling can bail you out of a subpar performance. Bad play calling can make things worse. I think the latter happened today.

Catch what they should and the play calling looks much better. I mean, when they had to run the ball in the fourth to close it out, Benny delivered. I really wonder how much of the empty set three/four wides is to appease Ben.

Still to many pass attempts....we HAVE to be able to run the ball some down the stretch.

    Agreed.

    The play calling was fine this time around for Randy. No negativity from me for him on that one. Regarding the execution though, it was the worst overall of the entire season. For that matter, I will a step further;

Sans Benny Snell, Big Ben and James Washington, the entire Offense played poor. That has to change; little time to do so the same.

Ben was not happy with the way the offense played after this game. He knows they need to be better because this kind of performance won’t be good enough moving forward.

I really like the 4th and Goal call with 44 Watt in the game, which should get the defense to sub group short yardage goal line and the 5 wide pick play to Watt was wide open and Ben didn't catch and throw....

When we throw 51 times, something is not right with the play calling.

Does Fichtner have a problem with pulling a guard. I have said it all year we do not have the road grader type offensive line we are better than average when DD or Pouncey pull. I realize Pouncey was out but one of the few times DD pulled was one of Snells better runs. I have no idea why he does not call those type running plays more often. The Steelers were almost always a trap blocking team all the way back to big red Faneca and before that to the teams of the 70's.

He's mad about the drops but his bff did him no favors. Run, pass, pass is too predictable. Not to mention him dialing in on one receiver a whole possession in the 1st half. I know for a fact Ebron dropped a pass on 3rd and goal. Catching the ball at the 5 thinking about how the hell he's going to score. That's play calling and not on Ebron dropping it.

    I agree 100%.

when you have 51 pass attempts and only 20 runs I can't say the play calling wasn't part of the problem.

At one point, late in the game, the Ravens just were giving a huge cushion to our receivers.

We could have driven the entire field if our wr's didn't keep on dropping the ball. We literally stopped ourselves on that drive.

Looks to me like 5 wide is going to have to carry us. Not because of the running game, but because of our offensive leadership.

We had first and goal from the one and we didn’t even consider the run as an option?

Smoke and mirrors. KC would beat us by 20. We are not a very good 11-0 team. Time to accept the facts.

The ravens played horribly on offense as expected. But when they got the turnover in the red zone they managed to execute a short drive to score. The Steelers? Not so much. It is bothersome

Ben is turning into Alex Smith on those open deep passes. I'm going to need to clean my glasses before the Monday game to tell the difference :lolol:
