Since the Pirates have lost their last message board I guess all 3 of their fans can talk shop here.

As the season gets closer I'll run a Pirate prediction poll.

Two things you can take to the bank, Bob Nutbag will get richer and his BUCS will suck.

Completely cleaned house (except for the one that matters the most - owner). I've never heard of any of the new management nor coaches. And two of the few bright spots for the Bucs last year - Marte and Vasquez are essentially gone - Vasquez in prison and Marte on the trading blocks. Wonder if Bell and Reynolds were playing over their heads last year? Who knows if Polonco will bounce back after that horrid shoulder injury? I like many of the players but certainly not enough talent to make a dent in the competitive NL Central. Easily could be cellar dwellers, pole to pole. Guess we'll have to cheer on vicariously as Meadows, Cole, Morton, Glasnow reach their potential elsewhere.

I see the Astros got caught cheating by stealing signs. The Pirates could do that and still suck:(

OK now I can't knock Marte any longer for underachieving and suffering frequent brain farts. He's off to AZ for two 19 yr olds. That man probably had the most all around raw talent for the Bucs since Roberto. Even McCutcheon didn't have the extent of 5 tools that Marte possessed but rarely ever consistently demonstrated. Last year was possibly his best all around effort and then, wham, out the door. The real glitch in all this is how they shuffled off Meadows with so much upside that he is now demonstrating in Tampa Bay. He was the obvious Marte replacement. Hindsight is always 20-20 here in 2020. Unfortunately Polanco (even when healthy) is very similar to Marte in his bouts of underachievement. At least they have the best sit-com infield with Kramer, Newman and Frazier!

The only good thing about the Meadows/Glasnow/Baz trade for Archer is that it probably directly resulted in Huntington's firing and the assembly of a completely new front office. That trade was so obviously bad, and the organization's inability to develop talent their own talent so obviously evident, that even Bob felt that he needed to make a change at the top. Cole and Morton were the first straws; Meadows and Glasnow were the last straws. I'm excited to see what this new management team can produce in a few years. It will take time, though, because Huntington couldn't draft well either.

I was going to have a prediction poll but would only get 1-2 posters so the hell with it. They are going to be sooooooo bad anyhow:(

67-and a lot of losses. Headed to casino to bet the under which is 71 I think.

No advice coming from me (the other Pirate fan here), I stopped betting anything on teams I root for after the Steelers sudden end to the '94 season when I lost big time. As far as the Buccos this season, logic would back you up on under 71 wins not doubt. And thinking back on those 3 out of the blue winning playoff seasons last decade, there was nothing special about them coming out of Spring Training, they seemed just as collectively incompetent as the 20+ seasons before. What was different as the seasons unfolded was they took advantage of other division teams having off seasons and key injuries. I don't think the Pirates were all that much better as a team than all the prior seasons or those since that brief span, things just fell their direction. They say that luck is defined as preparation meeting opportunity and maybe that's more what happened than pure talent. They did hold their own against division teams and somehow were unbeatable on their West Coast trips, even regularly beating the dreaded LA Dodgers (which rarely ever happened even with their mighty 1970 teams). If you stand still while everyone around you moves backwards, it gives the illusion you're moving forward. Here's hoping the division all moves backwards this season and the Pirates just stand still. That's their only hope. :thumbs up:

Little late but I'm still here the 20 years of futility haven't driven from my Buccos but it is hard to get exciting when the owner runs the team to line his pocket instead of being a competitive team.
