Pittsburgh Pirates 2023

I'm not a huge fan of any baseball since about 1987, but I do watch....it's the Pirates, and the Cubs. Both I grew up watching. Remember. I wasn't born in Arkansas. Actually 99% of My family weren't born here.
Penguins, and Blackhawks, and the Bulls. Those are the teams....but college....The Razorbacks.

 

I wore the Pirate stove tops since I was a kid.

 

NO NO NO I will not be sucked in but am so tempted. My wife asked me the other day if I was going to go crazy and start buying Pirate gear again. I had so much and put it in those clothing boxes. Next thing I knew I was seeing my old Pittsburgh gear on the Hispanic population around town

 

Bucs play 2 today in Washington if weather lets them.

 

Bucs using a 42 year old pitcher in game 1. In MLB when bases are loaded with no outs the average number of runs scored is 2 1/2. Hill our 42 year old wonder had a bases loaded situation with no outs and got out of it. Very cool!!

After all the bad I'm not use to this and I'm trying to temper my excitement cause I'm sure rough patches are a coming.

Was a feel good story while it lasted, back to Altoona he goes.

 

Glad he got a shot. I liked his story. As for the Pirates, no doubt Invasion of the Body Snatchers has happened to them.

2 best teams in MLB squaring off this week. Neither are the Yanks or Dodgers. Take that ESPN! LOL. Then the also hot Blue Jays.

Best April record in 1 1/4 centuries of Pirate baseball? Crazy part is the Bucs don't play the Cubs or Brewers until mid/late June - that's where the rubber will meet the road. Right now both those teams are hanging on just behind the Pirates in the standings. My favorite saying: "Life is like a dogsled team - if you're not the lead dog, the view never changes!"

 

I wonder about that April record. Probably won't get the game in today so they are 20-8. I've been with the boys since the 60's and can't remember a start like this.
