Well, they saw their window disappearing with Pickett as the guy. Whether Wilson is able to lead us over the top is a big question mark, but I think the chances are much better with him than they would have been with Pickett (or Rudolph, or Fields).

Not first or second round picks- look at how many players from Florida and Georgia didn't play in their bowl games.
Not since the CB from Oregon (?) wrecked his knee prepping for his bowl game and went from a sure fire first rounder to a seventh rounder.

TJ, Cam, and Minkah are all getting up there in years. They don't have time to sit around and wait for Pickett to "develop". They're in win-now mode. And Wilson gives them the best chance to do that.

I don’t disagree that Tomlin and his staff have mishandled the last two highly touted young quarterbacks we’ve had in the fold.

I will believe how the Steelers operate from a guy like Dale Lolley who has covering the team for 30 years, I don't need you to explain anything to me.

Yes, Canada was a problem. But he didn't spin into sacks and miss open reads.

Whether he asked to be traded or not doesn't really matter. He's gone, and the Steelers likely did the guy a favor whether he wanted to be here or not. I don't see the sense is grinding over whether he set the wheels in motion. If he did indeed ask for a trade, it's justification for those that never liked him to begin with.

Now they need an experienced back-up and a third string, likely to come via the draft. I don't believe that Mcsorley will be anything more than a camp arm. Have to have faith that Omar and Andy had a plan before they ever pulled the trigger on sending Pickett to Philly.

My gut tells me they made a mistake taking Pickett, but I still wanted to see him succeed. There's no denying he left too many plays on the table despite everyone wanting to blame all the offensive troubles at the feet of Matt Canada. My amateurish opinion of him is that he will occasionally sparkle as a backup, but that he is as good as he's ever going to be right now.

I talk only about the QB position....The steelers offense were awful in the last 2 years.....First half of 2022 and first 14 games of last year,it was the worst offense for the steelers since the rookie season of Terry Bradshaw in 1970 in PPG.Without Watt our record would been much worst that 1998 and 1999

Also, Cowher realized after 1998 that their OC was a major problem so he tried to change things...Not the case for Tomlin and the Steelers after 2022 when he kept Canada for one more years even when the fans and everyone knew Canada was awful. The steelers are one step behind in the last several years compared to some of the best teams in the league
