I believe next year will be different for Pickett. His off the field QB coach stated on 93.7 The Fan that he is going to put a little weight on him and etc in the off-season. Give him all off-season to throw with his guys and build some chemistry.

Canada has to go tho for it to take off. Doesn’t matter how it finishes this year. Pickett needs an experience NFL OC or he will sink.It needs to happen NOW. You can’t waste TJ, Minkah, Cam, Sutton and etc.

I really don't have a comparison for Him yet. I haven't seen enough.

TBH I think he is a mix of three different players that I can think of. 2 of which I think Pickett will ultimately be better than, and one of which I don't.

    1. Alex Smith - Similar styles. Smith was a pretty good QB in his prime. I do think Pickett has a higher upside potential than Smith did, but stylistically I can see some similarities.
    2. Andy Dalton - Another guy that Pickett has a higher ceiling than. Dalton was a fringe top 10 QB in his prime and could also win with his legs in a time where that wasn't seen often.
    3. Joe Burrow - I think Burrow will ultimately be better than Pickett, but the post season success for each will say a lot about how they are remembered. I think Burrow is what I'm hoping Pickett can turn into. Still has a lot of work obviously, but again stylistically not far off.

I checked NFL.com and NFL Draft Buzz draft prospect for Pickett and one said 'Arm strength to push deep outs without a problem' and the other said 'Good arm strength and can easily make all the NFL throws with effortless deep passes.'

Is it just the case the Steelers aren't having him throw deep passes

I actually think it's the way they are trying to get Him reading the field. Not sure if it's a such a bad thing now. He is actually reading the field....except when He bailsout . This could be a good thing in the long run. Right now My major disappointment is in the motion bringing more Guys into the rushing lanes. It's bad for the run game.

I have no idea what Pickett will be. I do know he is playing better than Mason and Mitch ever have in their career’s. Which isn’t saying a lot but there is hope.

So while both had a HOF Qb one has been to 2 SB, and been above 500....the other has been to one SB and been below 500 many times, and all while 70% of the games they played were indoors. I get people wanting another coach sometimes, but I don't get the S.Payton Love. He is basically a lesser version of Mike Tomlin.

What... Nobody builds their team....unless it's a new expansion team. I know exactly who was ,and wasn't on that team when He got there. My best friend, roommate, and bass player at the time was from Louisiana, and a diehard Saints fan....We both owned Sunday Ticket, and would watch each other's games if they weren't on at the same time.

We've never seen either develop a rookie QB as a HC, Tomlin had Ben and Payton had Brees, who had 5 seasons before going to the Saints. Do I believe the Payton would much better develop Pickett and the offense, yes I do.

So you think we're still playing with Cowhers players? That's pretty dumb.

Sean took over the Saints in 2006. The saints as a franchise had 1 playoff win in their entire history which was 6 years before he got there. Fans had bags over their head. Tomlin inherited a HOF QB probably 25 years old with a ring. That’s like saying wow I can’t believe Bill Gate’s son earned 1 million dollars. Not hard when your Dad gives you 100 million and you stick it in a savings account

No not currently. Which is why Tomlin’s playoff succes is getting worse the longer he coaches. You are correct one of us sounds dumb.

Idk. I think both are a bit overrated. Payton built a terrible team into a contender with a castoff QB that he molded into a HoF player. But he did underachieve in the post-season (probably should’ve won more with the teams he had, although they were a bit snake bitten). Tomlin had a SUPER strong start to his career with the team Cowher built. Then built his own super strong team that horrifically underachieved in the post-season. Tomlin was gifted a start to his career and has been Marvin Lewis since. But he did win once and get to another, so it’s hard to take that away from him.

About the same size. About the same mobility. Sipe had a little better than average NFL arm, which I think Kenny does as well. And Sipe was scrappy as hell, same thing I saw out of KP at Pitt.

I have seen him throw a deep ball to Jordan Addison an others plenty of times at Pitt.

Pickett threw a nice deep ball in college, go back and watch some of his highlights. His lack of deep balls is more of a function of Canada’s offense than anything else. The Hail Mary that he threw that was intercepted earlier this year traveled 67 yards in the air and it appeared to be fairly effortless for him. He can throw a deep ball but he seems to be getting the reputation that he can’t because of the exclusion of deep passes from Canada’s offensive philosophy.
