At this point I think you have to consider trading him off season. I have no idea what he could bring, but I would not shy away from a high 2nd, yes he may light it up, but the the hidden cancer is always ready to erupt. He has 2 years left on the contract, if he does light it up next year then he wants a new contract..which is fine but do you really want to pay huge bucks for someone who has demonstrated these traits? I don't.

I just listened to his actual interview.

He was blaming the media for all the blowback.

Typical with someone like him. Blame everyone else instead of taking responsibility for themselves.

In some ways you can't blame him for not wanting to be here, I can't imagine any decent WR wanting to come here in this system, problem in when you quit and play half assed, then eyes are on you as well. The cancer comes with the negative situations, but its also there when you are doing positive things on the field. It may be hidden, but we saw it with ab, just clear the room and start over.

Make no mistake. The analytics were there.

Nearly every draft site I researched stated that George Pickens had character issues.

The analysis was there. We just ignored it.

Once upon a time guys like Pickens wouldn't have been on our draft board at all. There were a lot of other GM's that didn't have him on their board.

If it were just Pickens, I would blame Pickens. The whole offense appears to be fed up. The offensive coaching staff as a whole is below the line.

If the Steelers want to solve the problem, then they have to acknowledge the problem. Otherwise we will be talking about the same nonsense next year, just with different players.

There have been other issues, but nothing this bad. The offensive staff needs to go, but so does Pickens. At the very least, he should be benched Sunday. Even better, make him inactive.

I do not think I have really understood culture and it's importance to a team an organization until this year. A team identity is something that can breed from that culture, but if you do have or have lost that culture, then nearly everything from the top down turns into an unfunctional crap show. If the HC loses the locker room, it's just sa symptom of something deeper within the entire organization. In some teams you see disfunction on a yearly routine basis, others may have success, but it is short lived because the culture is hit and miss, here the culture has slowly dissolved because past issues were not truly taken care of, yes you get ri of a problem player..fine now! (not), because the issues that allowed that stuff were never dealt with. There is a posting here where Art was angry about how the Canada situation was handles, going back to when he was retained last off season. Really??? Well Artie, you are the designated spokesperson and principal actor over the entire organization. You saw the same thing everyone else saw, then if you were angered, why did you allow it to continue to begin with? I get it, we don't want or need situations like Carolina, but we amn sure need more than we are seeing.

I agree with you. The problem is by punishing him, it punishes us. The Steelers don't have much to begin with. Benching Pickens mean you have to go with DJ, who is also a malcontent, and a washed up Allen Robinson. Calvin Austin has done next to nothing this season. At this point, you almost have to play him out of necessity.

When the depth you thought you once had is no depth at all. I read article on ILB and thought the writer was full of crap, when you lose a couple of starters to injury, the next man up philosophy is not realistic, but when you have healthy starters behaving this way, your depth is surface level to begin with,

The culture has been bad here for awhile. When the names keep changing, but the problems remain the same, you only have the person at the top to blame. To me that's your head coach.

Pickens gotta be deactivated, his own reason "I don't wanna get hurt"
DJ needs benched at least for the first quarter. I think if the back up guys see this, it could give them a rush. We all been around long enough to see a slacker get a jump on us. This can't be allowed in a team sport. No wonder what's wrong with this team.

This kid may be talented on paper, but he's no football player. Too many divas on this team in general, and not enough football players. Hopefully the Steelers will start considering a players character when drafting in the future, to go along with their athletic ability

i heard comments that if we're going to let DJ and Pickens walk, then we should trade them this off season.

He actually clarified later and claimed he didn’t understand the question regarding his talk with tomlin.

Be lucky to get a hill of beans for pickens. A second year player that phones it in half the time and throws temper tantrums on the sidelines isn’t going to garner much in draft capital.

This is possible you are right on this but it take only one team(the Claypool trade is a example)

Maybe, but there is always some coach out there who thinks his genius can fix a guy like Pickens. That is how they got a No. 2 for Claypool.

You don’t think other teams paid attention to what happened with claypool?

As I responded to the last guy that said basically the same thing. You don’t think the other teams paid attention to what happened with that trade?
