Your point about him being muscled out of position is a very good one. That is exactly what happened on Trubisky's first interception against the Colts, which was a huge turning point in the game. Sure, the defender should have been called for illegal contact, but Pickens' inability to fight through that is why the defender was able to go through him and get the ball.

Pickens has had this issue even in college. Not sure how you tell a grown man he should be devoting effort to his job. He refuses to block or tackle after an interception or fumble. Trade him

Yes, there would be buyers for him because they would look at the QB situation and say we have a better offense and QB play than he has in Pittsburgh and will get his targets.

Let's get something back then if he is so good. I can do without these
    ego centric players.

There would be buyers I'm sure, but for what price? A lot of GM's reportedly refused to put Pickens on their board at all. I don't think his stock has risen since then.

I doubt they would get higher than a second rd for him.

And if he is the root of the problem in the locker room which seems likely than it would be addition through subtraction to get rid of him.

A little time in the weight room would help for sure, but he's just not a big guy. He's tall and lanky. He's going to give up strength to other players at times. Hopefully he's dedicated to his craft enough to continue developing. The natural god given tools are all there, he just needs to continue putting in work and he can be a true #1. We'll see if he has the mindset for it

No that's what the defensive coordinator is for and before you say it, yes the offense is for the offensive coordinator but you need a heach coach that is more focused on generating points because the league has become so offensively focused.

I also think the focus on defense was a result of a time during Ben's killer B era where we put all the money into weapons for Ben but couldn't stop anyone on D, thus the massive point totals given up by the D in the playoff games we did make it to.

Because Coach T probably thought he could act as a father type figure and reach the kid and help him mature up. It failed, just like his supposed talk with lil George before the Colts game. See how that went!!!

If you actually had an extra spot you could waste I would deactivate him and never trade him and let him rot for his rookie contract period!! Throwing your toys out of the crib earns you a spanking not a reward!!

Thats true, I heard about that great talk. Already left Pickens head by the time Warren was heading towards what should have been a TD.

At this point we should trade him and get what we can get .. A good way to get his best value is to draft high at the position and package a deal IMO .. I would give him and Najee for a late 1st. or early 2nd. Neither are great fits and both have talent some Team with a decent OL and a solid QB could see this and offer even more ...

he has become a full blown pain in the ass and MT has acknowledged

You are correct. I too thought he gets pushed around. All I thought the first few times I saw it was Hines Ward would have put up with that maybe once in a game then the defenders would have had their hands full dealing with him.

I'm pretty sure more then Pickens think along those lines in todays NFL. What I take from that is a player on a team sport only looking out for himself. He is paid to do whatever it takes to help his team win.

I was a mailman. Good paying job but nowhere near an NFL salary. The paid me to do deliver mail to a set group of houses. That would be like me saying I'm not delivering your mail today cause I might trip on your steps.

He need a reality check...Tomlin need to bench him for good even if it mean that this is over for Pickens with us and trade him to a dumpster fire team in the offseason!

Over the past 10 yrs maybe more our drafting has gone from best player available to reaching for tweener's . Most teams consider the Oline the engine that drives the offense and with that type of thinking they invest draft capitol in the offensive line and the coaching of the offensive line. The Steelers rode Pouncey and DeCastro into the dirt and when they were done the cupboard was bare.

Most teams also draft high for DL so its just not smart to think you can build an Oline to protect your QB with late round pics and hope they pan out.

Just way too many misses in the past 10 yrs has left us with a lineup that is dangerously thin. Once you start to lose that depth your screwed it takes years to rebuild meanwhile your starters are still getting older. Does anyone see Loudermilk becoming the next Beard or DeLeal becoming the next Tuitt .

Heyward is worn out from a life in the trenches and 34 Benton looks great but losing one great and having a great younger player still leaves us with one good DL and the others serviceable at best.

People complain we haven t replaced Shazier in reality we may of just replaced Hampton.
