A mandatory percentage of their earnings should immediately go into a 401k. The company I worked for would give you 6% of your salary every year then match 100% up to 6%, so I would put in 10% and end up having 22% of my salary going into my 401k and anything over the IRS max would go into a Supplemental account. Since they make big money they can have the same thing, save the up to the IRS max but then everything above that goes into a SERP which grows tax free as well until they retire. That way when they are old they won't be broke. Now the NFL should also "force" say another 10% to go into a mutual fund like Vanguard Index 500 or something similar that can provide the stop gap when they retire until they reach the 401k withdrawal age. Simple and we wont hear stupid stories all the time.

I doubt the NFL wants any part of something like that. They league has shown that, for the most part, they don't care what happens to players once the league is done with them.

I also doubt the player's association would agree to such restrictions.

They have financial pros speak with all rookies as part of the welcome to the NFL. Players are told what the options are and how it works. Beyond that it’s up to each individual to decide.

Why do the Steelers seem like a WR diva factory?

It's not the Steelers my friend. It's today's NFL.

Nope, sorry pal it's only the Steelers.
Never ever ever have I seen other football players of any position on any other team
    Skip in voluntary workouts
Although skipping is highly energetic way to move about.

The Bills traded Diggs because he's a diva, look at how many teams Randy Moss and Terrell Owens played for, WR being divas isn't exclusive to the Steelers.

Then I see a WR like Larry Fitzgerald, that went about his business dominating
and then look at these Prima Donas and say what happened to humbleness and TEAM over
personal goals? It tears a team up a few bad apples.

Did you watch the Super Bowl, their TE almost chocked their coach.

BREAKING NEWS: GP was the first to show up for Phase One of the offseason program. Only strength and conditioning coaches are allowed on the field.

    • 90 minute max on the field
    • Clubs can only specify 2 hours for players to be at the facility
    • Players choose the other 2 hours for weights, etc.
    * Dead Ball Explanation:

-Kickers and Punters can kick, but players cannot field the ball and no snappers or holders can be involved
-Long Snappers can snap into a net
