Oh you're in that crowd. Specially when you say, "wait until he goes to his next team".

Jeh, acceptance is the first step.

It is very apparent there are a lot of posters here who were never been in a serious position of leadership

They are easy to pick out

Actually, the Cowboys didn't rob the Steelers they only offered a 4th for Pickens at first then after the draft they offered a 3rd.

Comparison is that an early turnover doesn't doom a team especially when they only lost by two. Not to mention they took the lead with 3min left in the game. In the words of the Jamar, "MAKE AN EFFING STOP".

Your whole argument is horrid. If you need me to find a QB that won a game with a poor passer rating and overcame turnovers I will.

What's gibberish? If Lambert was playing in today times, there would be an insane amount of flags thrown, suspensions, fines, loss of draft picks.

Sh..... no way Lambert would bow a knee to the shield.

In fact I would put money on it Lambert would choke a ref and smile about it.

Please don't make me explain how dumb of a trade this was.

..... we would have got a third comp anyhow
.... he didn't cost us anything

Idk about rob... if the Cowboys miss the playoffs and traded us a third without extending Pickens, then they rinsed themselves. I think GP's talent is worth more than what we got, but as a potential rental and with the extra baggage... I can understand why we only got what we did. The Cowboys will likely be a bottom half team... that pick could be in the low-mid 70's pretty easily. Not awful all things considered. There was just simply more to the trade than talent alone, and it makes it a hard evaluation.

I think the team couldn't handle Pickens either, its not just the fans and the media. Pickens brought a lot of the hate/questioning on himself. You're put under a microscope when you have too many instances of being a problem. Pickens has multiple instances of putting no effort on a block for his back during a playoff run, he was well known for taking multiple plays/routes off during the games and putting minimal effort too often, as well as having issues with timeliness for team meetings/practices. And all of that is aside from the antics on the field and sidelines during the games when he was crashing out. You can argue that its a bit weak this past week (it likely was), but he put the target on his own back. It's not unfair or unfounded.

I agree with this point. That is the reason a player as talented as him becomes available in the latter part of the second round. We took a shot on his talent (we were right about the amount of talent he had) with the hopes of being able to help him become more professional and less volatile over time. The latter part never happened, so here we are. It doesn't matter if the blame for GP not improving as an individual falls on the Steelers or on GP solely, the fact of the matter is that he didn't.... and because of that we no longer wanted him around the team, no matter how much talent he has. We've let far better players walk away from us in the prime of their careers for personality/off field issues (AB and Le'Veon come to mind). Sometimes you just cut bait and let him be someone else's problem to deal with. We will find another player to be our WR2....

I just think there is a middle ground between "we're dumb for trading Pickens at all... he's a great player and who cares about the personality deficiencies, you all are soft!" and "he's a problem, so trading him away for literally anything is a win!". The reality exists somewhere in between the two.

I agree with a lot you said. But we could have got comps for Pickens worth a 3rd and he didn't cost us anything.

We certainly could have... I don't disagree. But if Pickens crashed out and had issues, maybe we don't. Or if we sign a huge name FA, then maybe we don't. Or he tears his ACL in the beginning of the year and we don't.... There are still realities that could have happened where we don't get that 3rd round comp pick (which would be a late 90's early 100's pick), even if conventional wisdom suggests that we would have.

I still would've kept Pickens for the year and rolled the dice on the comp pick than trading him for a 3rd, but I can at least understand why we did it. There's a reason that people other than me get paid money to run NFL organizations lol
