The Steelers have a history of not making very smart moves. Cutting Johnny Unitas, passing up on Dan Marino, letting Rod Woodson go via FA are just a few of the really dumb moves on the old chess board that the Steelers have made.

Now if you want to say the Steelers are cheap then I fully agree with you. Always have been and always will be. That's why we are stuck with MT and it's also why the Steelers will not cut Ben Roethlisberger while still having to pay him $20,000,000 to sit on a couch.

They also know that picking 24th in next years draft will not yield them a future starting QB so they might as well have Ben return and see what happens in the 2022 draft with possible quality QB availability. If Ben sucks and goes 2-14 or even 5-11 then they will have a top 5 pick to try and get an elite QB. If however he wins 9 or 10 games it's wash, rinse, repeat. If a miracle happens and he wins the SB next year then the FO looks like geniuses, we hoist #7, MT stays for another 5 years and we fade into mediocrity for about 8 years. It's a pretty simple roll of the dice for the Steelers actually.

Is Philadelphia serious about keeping Wentz or is he getting traded to Colts now?

The defense, really got us to 11-0. Once we started getting major injuries on that side of the ball. We were doomed. Ben is old and a liability. Because, in times past ... he could put us in harms way or start off slow and then bring us back. With a depleted defense and non existent run game ... and, defensive coaches figuring out that he couldn't throw long anymore. It made it awfully difficult to move the ball and accomplish a comeback win.

I consider us, right now, as a lower tier team. Look who we struggled against or lost to. JV Rats, Bungles, Clowns x2, Girls, Eagles, etc. Can anyone honestly say they were not sweating bullets about playing the 2 win Cinci team? Ranked dead last in rushing offense. We had an unprecedented meltdown our last 6 games. Thank goodness the NFL didn't have more games in the regular season or that losing streak would have kept right on going IMO>

Is there anyone between the 2004 class and Tom Brady, besides Brees?

    That's what is so vexing.

His goal was to catch Bradshaw with 4. Not going to happen. He has nothing left to prove, he will be a 1st ballot HOFer.

His meltdown after a fine start will only continue, plus the league caught on to the offensive game plan or lack their of.

I to wish he would just retire.

if I did the sorts right on pro-footballreference, the answer is no. though it did show that Matt Schaub played in 2020 from the ‘04 class along with Ben, Larry Fitz and Andy Lee. In addition Rivers.

Not saying Wentz is not salvageable, but I would a deep investigation before getting stuck with that contract. Beyond the physical, his emotional/mental state has to come into question...his drop in production and QB rating were actually historic..like top 5 of 6 all time. Could be lack of players around him, physical skills diminished because of injury, lack of confidence..all 3..or more...

I do not have the %, but he rarely stood behind center in those first 11 games.

I Googled it an there were some players older, but they were long snappers. Ben is in the top 10 of oldest in the league.

OK..so if Ben and Brees hang it up as well this year...3 eligible for the HOF, who gets in year one? All 3 (not likely), 2 (possible, but who), 1 (very likely) who gets in?

Just because of stats and his how people view him Brees gets in, possible Ben as well year 1, then Rivers. Probably Brees, then Ben (possible Rivers with him), or Rivers following.

Rivers won nothing. I’m not so sure he’s HOF worthy. Hines Ward is more worthy.

Yeah Brees will be first ballot, no doubt about it. Larry Fitzgerald might be retiring as well, another automatic first ballot guy.

Ben is not the most liked guy around the league but I think he should get in first time based on achievements on the field. I would not be surprised if he gets shafted however.

Can Ben and Rivers just agree to trade spots?

Yes, but you are not thinking like the HOF voters think. If you look at the stat sheet upon retiring, even w/o Championships Rivers is right there with the all time greats. Like it or not, Rivers will get into the HOF, Hines in my homer opinion should already be in, but for some reason it is a hard sell to the voters.

Give it up on Hines Ward. The only way he gets into the HoF is if he buys an admission ticket. He missed out on the charity centennial class.

It looks like the the 2 oldest players in the league for the 2021 season will be Tom Brady and Ben. Unless there’s an old kicker out there.

I thought current eligible players weren't eligible for the centennial class. If they were wouldn't Faneca have made it?

Are long snappers football players? I saw that two were age 39 this year.

They’re not. Only the rejects were. You had to be passed over for 20 yrs to be eligible. Faneca gets in this year or next.

If you have to ask then the answer is obvious. I will however qualify my answer. Excluding guys that get 6 snaps a game or less, Ben and Brady will be two oldest players in the league.
