Considering the year he just had, you may have just fallen off Mike McDaniels' Christmas card list. ;)

I seriously doubt Watson. Nothing against the guy (though health has been an issue), but he'll most likely be out recovering from the ACL tear until at least November, and probably won't regain full strength until sometime next offseason (when he becomes a free agent).

The Saints media said Olave isn't available don't want him anyway too many concussions, and Watson tore his ACL late last season.

We also don’t use the Middle of the Field which is where most TEs make hay

Honestly, Smith is a Muth clone in A Smith's offense. He's a 500 yard, 5-7 TD TE. He might actually be a better blocker than Muth, something Smith would smile about.

it gives us options as i said in another thread, run game, pass game to the RB's, TE's that are big targets, moving or holding the safeties for the deep ball to our fast receivers, play defense. 3's and 6's every drive.
    parham
    smith
    washington
    friermuth
    rookie

all these guys create mismatches. RB's out of the backfield again create mismatches. holds safeties. LB'ers outmatched. deep speed from our WR's could be deadly. rudolph throws a good deep ball. ball control, keeping the other guy on the bench. play solid defense. get 3's and 6's on drives. we will win a lot of games with this.

    TE's help young QB's. howard.

smith and MT offense to a T.

A TE? Of all the Pittsburgh Steeler moves, that would be the Pittsburgh Steeliest.

many good teams take advantage of the TE position and make it work well. brady and gronk. mahomes and kelcie. ben and miller. simon and garfunkle. no wait. i don't think ben was ever the same after heath left.

I wouldn’t mind this at all. Arthur Smith loves using multiple TE’s and we really only have Muth as a credible target in the passing game now. Washington is fine but he is never going to be able to get separation down to down, neither will Conor Heyward or Pruitt.

Assuming they sign Rodgers, adding another receiving TE is a good idea IMO

i don't think it's being set up as an individual player but an in tandum with type offense. different ways to tax a defense. multiple weapons are harder to cover. QB has to find the weakness on each play.

Smith has used the middle of the field extensively in the past. Part of the reason they didn't do it last year was the two quarterbacks. They seemed to be doing everything they could to keep Fields from taking risks, which included avoiding the middle of the field. Wilson never did much of his work throwing to the middle of the field, even back to his days in Seattle, so that was nothing new.

FWIW, in regards to Jonnu, one of the beat writers said that this isn’t coming from the Steelers.

They could be wrong, or it could be the Dolphins or Smith's agent trying to drum up interest.

This. You can draw up all the plays you want, but if the Qb.....
    1. Doesn't see them
    2. Takes off running before the play develops
    3. Doesn't even look that way
    4. Or the OL Doesn't give enough time.....
    No plays will matter.
So far only 2 Qbs we've had since Ben left, even kinda made the offense work, and neither was great, but the best so far.....Mason, and Wilson.

Yes, but at the same time this offence is bereft of playmakers and needs players that can get open and catch the football.

Jonnu Smith would be a much bigger contributor than Parnham, Washington etc in that respect.

It’s probably only media chatter anyway

    :drinks:

Washington is 6'7". And is a beast. I feel they need to work him in more in the passing game. Block and release. Throw it high. Plus him working against these slot corners, common. Eric Green comes to mind. 6'5" and a beast as well. To bad the blow ruined him.

I agree that Heyward and Pruitt are just there.

The middle of the field no matter who the QB is best be open for business!
