The Steelers have been penalized at least 12 times in every game so far and have been called for 37 penalties total, worst in the NFL. The next closest team? The Bills, with 28 penalties.

We have a full game's worth of penalties more than the 2nd most penalized team. If Tomlin doesn't get this cleaned up it may cost our season (more than Bell holding out, Boz missing kicks, defense sucking)

It's mind boggling how many penalties a veteran-laden team is committing.

I would cut "special team's ace" DHB last night after he managed to get 2 penalties on the same play. The dude's been in the league 10 years, he's supposed to be a leader. Instead he's acting like Burfict.

Would be interesting to see how many of those are ticky-tack RTP calls though.

10 penalties for stuff that can be easily controlled for the most part - illegal shift, false start, def offside, too many men, illegal formation.

The one's that bother me the most are when they let emotion take over (which I get) and take an unnecessary roughness and all that encompasses that after we just get a big play or first down.

I believe it comes down to Coaches instilling awareness. I watched a lot of the Eagles last year and had to give kudos to Pederson for instilling it. I'm sure that guy in NE does well also. I hope Tomlin can control it this season. It will go a long way in our quest for the AFC North.

Haha just see where the Eagles are not so good this season but alas there are those damn Pats.

Worth noting that we seem to be fairly high on penalties in our favour as well though.

Could it be we’ve had some particularly officious officials in these three games? Monday night did seem flag heavy on both sides.

I used to have a site bookmarked that tracked penalties by officiating crew. Lemme hunt...

Seriously, those 2 RTP's were our first of the season? Incredible.

    Thanks for the stats!

That would be interesting. Although maybe it's too early in the season to see massive differences. I did feel that the Monday Night lights were pushing the flags out of the pockets a bit yesterday.

I also noticed that Pittsburgh have been involved in more plays than any other team... No idea why that is. Sadly not enough to warrant saying we're more penalised because we've played more downs.

Tomlin doesn't play in the games. Players know by this point that committing penalties isn't good. It's the players job to correct themselves.

You would be wrong to cut DHB after one issue where he let emotions get the best of him. It's also possible that the ref was incorrect.

The Steelers will take the appropriate action against DHB if he continues to be a consistent problem.
