I wonder if the 5-yard slant that he turned into a 51-yard TD changed his mind about wanting to go deep more often?

Look, the issue is that Wallace will make the "occassional" big play by out running everyone, but those are few and far between.

The case remains, do the Steelers want a once in 200 attempts guy, or a guy that can catch 85-100 balls? My guess is that they want the 85-100 guy, not the highlight reel guy.

They paid Brown big bucks and I doubt they will pay even bigger bucks to keep Wallace. Sorry, he is expendable in the long run. Sanders just might be able to fill that void, but it is anyone's guess.

As I have always said from day one, Mike's biggest problem is the fact that he can't catch, or at least not as well as the top 5 WR's in the league. For my money, he drops way to many balls that he should catch.

Remember, fast is, well, fast. Over time though, speed disappears as one gets older. In Mike's case, that would mean as he looses a step he would have to rely more on his hands.....ahh, please, and no thank you.

He killed himself by not taking that 50 mil. He might get it from someone else, but he ain't gonna get it from the Steelers.

The sad thing in all this is the Steelers may get nothing in return,
Oh sure a compensation pick, but is that enough? The Steelers let talent go with out
recouping what the real value is for this type of player. Mike Wallace
and his agent think he is worth Desean Jackson money, The Steelers don't think so,
so we are caught between a rock and a hard place, can we afford him or not? Unlike the
CB and OL evaluaters, I think the Steelers are pretty good judge of WR talent.

Yeah that and Haleys way of keeping Ben upright. The new passing game with the short dink and dunk seems to dictate that a speedster like Wallace is going to require catching shorter passes and use nothing but sure speed and cunning to get to the end zone :)

I'm a big wallace fan, and I don't want to see him go but the fact is we're not going to pay him 10 mil a year like he wants, and have AB's contract.

To your point about how bad off we'll be without him... Give me a break. We'll figure it out. People thought the sky was falling when Plax and Santonio left too.

They should be using him a lot more like that IMO, Jerry RIce used to take passes like that to the house all the time and he is no where near as fast as wallace. With Wallaces speed, his YAC should be incredible. I could see him doing a lot more of what he did Sunday. He should want to as well, I think that is much more exciting then wanting to go deep all the time.

My thought is, Sanders can be what we want him to be (within reason). I think as a number 2 guy, he would step up and be big. This of course, barring health. Really, we'll be set either way. Obviously we want all 3, but I just don't see that happening. I just hope both don't walk, then it's a different story.

we were not near as good this past preseason without him. you can't just replace him with anyone and expect the same results. AB moves to the other teams #1 corner and sanders moves up to their #2. alittle more difficult without the field stretcher. just sayin.

Wallace didnt win the game for us. He scored the winning TD but he didnt win the game. The whole team was on a roll and even if someone else hadnt scored, we still would have.

Yes I m a little upset with Wallace. The dropped balls, the hold out, the big pay day turn down..... Do I want him to leave? No. Do I want him to get a reality check? Yes. If it were me, he would be riding the pine or seeing little playing time.

heath dropped a few and fumbles sometimes, but i don't see all this hate going on about him. hines has done the same in the past. so has brown. everyone should be greatful, the guy without the big contract this year leads us in TD catches amongst wr's for the 3rd staright year. he is also way, way,way ahead of brown in that catagory the last couple years. infact this year AB has as many TD catches as our FB and 3rd receiver and 3rd TE. watch what you wish for.

Yup. He made defenders that had an angle on him look like they were jogging against the Giants.

I m not hating him, I just want him to sign but he needs to be realistic too. 5 yr $50 mil and he turned it down?? Just sounds like he doesnt want to be in the burgh.

as i said, if it's TD's the last two years and AB got, what 42 mil.? maybe wallace does deserve more. we are so much better with all of them on the field. omar make it happen.

Because of Wallaces holdout he is now held to a much higher standard than the rest of the team. I don't know if that's fair or not, but it's true. Any drop he makes is magnified yet others seem to get a break when they foul up. The guys having a decent season so far and he still hasn't received that big payday that he wants. Our offense is pretty scary when we have Wallace, Sanders, and Brown on the field. :)

    i agree.

we have alot of other firepower added as well. i don't think it's all come together yet either. now is not the time to break this up. when, paulson and will j. and rainey and all the other RB's get better at catching the ball and meshing that aspect into this offense, it should be scary. once we get the youth on the field on the o-line and they get some games together watch out.

Agree completely, Mac. I love having them all there. But I do think a lot of the adulation for Brown is happening in comparison to Wallace. Brown has had his moments of weakness, and without Wallace I think the judgements on those moments would be much harsher.
