Honestly, after watching this game Sunday, I am comfortable giving Sauders a five year 35 million dollar deal and saying bye to Wallace. Don't get me wrong, he'll be missed, but I just like what Saunders brings to this table more so than Wallace. I think Saunders is a better all around player. Thoughts?

TD's win games not yards and style points. wallace has twice as many of those then the other wr's put together. i'd perfer to keep them all.

Did you see that play where Wallace caught the ball in traffic and burned every defensive back on that team eventhough they had the angle on him? No way you let a guy like that go so he can get picked up by the Ravens... you know what he would do to our own DBs?

I dont want Wallace to leave but he is not worth more than the 50 mil he was offered he is not in a league with Megatron and Fitz. I dont think Sanders is the same player, he is a nice #3 to have but Wallace brings more to the table with flat out speed. We just need to hope he wants to stay, he is no way worth 70-80 mil and he is not playing like he is either but certin teams will throw money at him because of his speed.

Are you forgetting Wallace won the game for us sunday, he turned an underneath pass into a 51 yard TD run when he outran their secondary, that was the margin of victory, he is a threat anytime he gets the ball to go the distance, we dont have the luxury of getting rid of a game breaker just because we think sanders can be something he has yet to prove he is; Wallace is one guy defenses have to account for everytime he is on the field, sanders not so much, so I disagree with your assessment that sanders is better than mike wallace....Speed kills, and you dont get rid of the fastest wideout on the team on a hunch sanders is going to become something he has yet to prove he is.......

I agree we should and will sign Sanders, and let Wallace walk b/c of contract demands... but 5 years 35 million is INSANE. No way in hell he's worth that.

    He's on pace for somewhere around 48 catches - 650 yards - 2 TDs You're telling me that's worth 7 million a year? I'm thinking something like 3 years 10 mil.

I think they let Wallace look around see what he actualy gets and then se if they want to match or not. If he leaves you can get a guy like Austin from WV in the draft or maybe convence Bowe to sign a resonable contract to play for a winner.

Ward said last season that Sanders was the best route runner on the team which i agree and Ben said he could be a number one on alot of team in which i say a solid 2 yes not a 1.

Phil Simms couldnt believe how fast wallace was, especially he couldnt believe what he saw when mike outran the angle the two DBs had on him going down the sideline, he was so impressed he timed the whole play, and when mike caught the ball about 5 yards in on the right side of the field then ran across to the left side of the field about 25 yards then cut down field for another 45 yards he did it in 7.5 seconds your talking 70 yards in 7.5 seconds in pads, thats impressive: So you can say what you want about wallace, but he can get better at running routes and he can improve his concentration on the ball, but one thing he doesnt have to learn, and it cant be taught anyway is SPEED: One thing is for sure, we cant let a talent like wallace go because of a contract dispute, there has to be a middle ground both he and the front office can agree on, theres room for him and sanders both to be signed, but discussing letting wallace go is an option we cant afford to allow to happen, unless he is just dug in and leaves us no other choice....

It's like what Cris Carter said, Wallace has functional speed. There's track guys who are fast like Wallace but they can't convert that track speed to football functional speed which Wallace does. When fast track guys get on the football field they can't run with that kind of speed when there are others people on the field with them trying to guard them or tackle them. Wallace maintains his ridiculous track speed on the football field. Like Scrap said, I don't want to see our DB's having to cover this guy if he goes to another team.

If there was a middle ground both could agree on, he would already have a contract. Someone is going to offer more than we should match.

Man, this is a tough crowd! Yes, I meant Sanders. Just a thought I had. Seems like there are different feelings here, as expected. Maybe I was a little off on the money, I just really like the kid.

PS. Crav, is that really you? Man, do you join every Steeler forum that exists?? I got to admit though, your little avatar made me laugh.

I am astounded by Steeler Nation. I think they have concluded (and probably correctly) that MW will leave after the season, so we must conclude that he really wasn't that good after all. Antonio Brown was designated the real #1, gritty, does the hard stuff WR. MW is the flashy pretty boy. But since he's hurt now Emanual Sanders (being the next man up!) is the next gritty guy.

I will say two thing and am prepared to be ripped for all of them:
    - Mike Wallace is the best WR on this team and draws double coverage, in 2013 there will be all kinds of head-scrathing on this board why AB and Sander aren't performing
    - I don't understand (other than that one is signed and one is not) why Brown is the more serious, more Hines-like WR than the Wallace. Brown drops passes, Brown sturts like his kaka don't stink each and every time he gets a first down. If it were the other way around, Brown would be the cocky underachiever.

If being the fastest means he's the best then yeah, he's the best. I wan't all 3 here but lets not act like Brown and Sanders will suck without Wallace, that's going to the opposite extreme as saying we don't need Wallace.

since we will not probably afford to pay wallace , the question is , with brown sanders and cotchery and rainey i will replace wallace with a fast big t end

Now that we discovered a fullback, what a concept, let Wallace walk. He's not going to be happy unless he gets to go deep every play.
