Per an alert from my Steelers app.

He was with Carolina last year, worked with the Chargers before that. Spent time in the college ranks as well.

The Steelers named Pat Meyer the team's new offensive line coach.

Meyer, who has 20 years coaching experience, spent the last two seasons (2020-21) as the offensive line coach with the Carolina Panthers.

Prior to joining the Panthers, he spent three seasons (2017-19) coaching the offensive line for the Los Angeles Chargers, with them rushing for 1,873 yards in 2018, the team's highest rushing total since the 2013 season. In 2017 his unit allowed an NFL-low 17 sacks, the team's fewest sacks allowed since the 1982 season.

Meyer spent two years (2015-16) as an assistant offensive line coach with the Buffalo Bills, also serving as a football operations consultant in his first season.

Meyer got his first shot in the NFL with the Chicago Bears in 2013 as an assistant offensive line coach, before being named offensive line coach in 2014. He spent the 2012 season in the Canadian Football League as the offensive coordinator/offensive line coach with the Montreal Alouettes.

Meyer also spent time in the college ranks, including four seasons at his alma mater Colorado State as offensive line coach (2008-11). He also had stints at Florida State (2007), N.C. State (2000-06) and Memphis (1999) where he was a strength and conditioning coach.

Meyer played one season with the Arizona Cardinals (1995) and one with the St. Louis Stampede (1996) in the Arena Football League. He was a three-time All-Western Athletic Conference selection at Colorado State. He was a five-sport athlete in high school at Girard (Ohio).

He was in Carolina with Frisman. So we have that going for us, which is nice.

Another low budget coach who is most likely another yes man for Tomlin and a guy who is willing to work with Matt Canada since nobody else wants too.

The question is though why don't the Panthers want him anymore?

Their OL was horrendous last year.

    31. CAROLINA PANTHERS (NO CHANGE)
    LT Cam Erving | 56.0
    LG Michael Jordan | 50.8
    C Matt Paradis | 66.9
    RG John Miller | 52.1
    RT Taylor Moton | 77.8

Carolina’s offensive line was always going to become an issue given the players they prioritized to acquire in the offseason. Taylor Moton earned a 77.8 PFF grade and was one of the better right tackles in the NFL, but he was the only one of 11 linemen to end with a grade above 67.0. John Miller and Michael Jordan, who played just 21 games combined, allowed 13 sacks from their guard spots, and three different linemen earned PFF pass-blocking grades lower than 40.0. This offensive line performance was a true case of reaping what you sow.

I see part of their problem, Michael Jordan is a basketball player.

At least he has NFL experience, he is a lot more qualified than Sarrett or Klemm when they took the same job

Best of luck to him, and I hope they get him the personnel to give him a chance to build a line.

The Broncos weren’t exactly lighting up the league last year but many wanted Munch. Marone’s last stint in the NFL was coaching the 6-10 Jaguars yet some wanted him. Let’s give Meyer a chance. His resume is definitely more impressive than the two guys we had as OL coach before him

Carolina started 13 different line combinations last season, so that might account for some of the less than stellar numbers.

I'm not thrilled but we wanted outside the org.. we got outside the org

It was covered pretty well above, but I spent a lot of time following Carolina last preseason. Two of my draft guys end up there. Tremble and G/C David Moore from Grambling...(Who I would like to see get white chance)

Their fan base hater him. Mostly because they didn't feel any of their Oline got better.

    We will see

    HACK

Do y’all ever stop? Belichek was fired by the browns and went on to be arguably the best coach in nfl history. Just because the panthers sucked doesn’t mean this guy isn’t good or even great at his job. At least ****ing wait a season or two before you start whining. Jesus tap dancing Christ
