He HAS had a great team around him. For years. The likelihood of him turning into Matthew Stafford as he ages is remarkably low.

Remarkably low?! How about impossible for that is the correct answer.

Lamar does not have the anticipation, overall footwork, pocket poise, release speed nor arm talent to get close to Stafford. People tend to forget how special a thrower of the football Matthew Stafford was coming out of Georgia. Lamar has gotten better passing the football but isnt in the same domain as Stafford ever was in his prime.

In short?! As far as pure passing goes, Matthew Stafford ragdolls Lamar Jackson and it isnt a pretty sight.

Yup, although mentioning Stafford specifically was just an aside. My overall point is that he’s unlikely to turn into a SB caliber conventional QB at this point. It just isn’t there for the reasons you mentioned, and probably many more.

Ah. I misinterpreted your statement then. My mistake. Thought you were merely talking about Lamar's skills from the passing based domain of the position.

Regardless, for me, the window shut in 2023. Don't think I will see a Ravens team that stacked again for a while.

Marino is arguably the greatest pure passer on league in history imo. If you gave Lamar's legs to him, he'd have been superman. I'm not comparing the two directly. The point is is franchise QB. Oddly enough we're discussing two that have great individual accolades but don't have that post season success.

My thoughts are the tides could have changed with Lamar at QB for the Steelers. Some disagree. It's all water under the bridge at this point

If You gave him Lamars legs he wouldn't have been a great passer. When You can take off You don't work on the things you should until it's too late. How many times have You seen guys like Lamar, and Cam Newton , and I'm naming them because I've seen it, during the off season working on RB drills, I know I have many times. It makes me laugh. Running is not Your weakness.

Plenty of great QBs fail to elevate a teams that don’t have championship level talent around them. A QB can only do so much when the other team is just flat out better. IMO LJ has had the best supporting roster in the NFL several times during his career, and an offense designed to always put him the best position to win. At least 3-4 times I can recall offhand, he has entered the postseason with arguably the NFL’s best overall roster substantially intact. Still, when it’s mattered most we’ve seen that he doesn’t have it.

I also wouldn’t take LJ because he is an average NFL QB at best if he’s hobbled and unable to change how the opponent plays defense because of how he threatens as a runner. How many times have we seen the Ravens keep him on the shelf when most NFL QBs would be back playing while a lower body injury is still healing?
