If im looking at adding a QB and Lamar Jackson is available im not passing on him because he hasnt won a Superbowl. I would also add Josh Allen and Justin Herbert and many other talented players who havent won anything. Not having won a championship is separate from not being capable.

We are back to some fools thinking quarterbacks win and lose games by themselves.

Take the final game of the regular season. Is it Lamar Jackson's fault that the corner got faked out of his cleats on the go-ahead touchdown? Is it his fault the rookie kicker choked on what should have been the game-winning field goal for them?

I can't decide if people are schizophrenic, or they argue against themselves for fun about certain things like...
If it's not a Qb thing, then why do Qbs win MVPs over Qbs that have better, or the same stats, but the one that wins the MVP is usually the one with the most wins??? You can't have it both ways.

    Example: Sam Darnold

He was in the same boat as Allen, LJ and Herbert before February.

Well then that is every Qb in the league not named Stafford, Hurts, Mahomes, and Darnold that are in the same boat. I thought you had something more than that.
    My bad.

Everyone passed on Brady including the Patriots. If they thought he was franchise QB material they would have taken him way before the 6th round

They had no chance at getting Mahomes. Lamar was on the board and they passed a franchise QB up for a temporary fix on an average player.

No I didn't. Basically it comes down to talent evaluation and inner politics.

At the time, Ben was threatening to retire every year. He ended up whining about Mason being selected in the 3rd round, but he continued to play

The point of the post is passing on a franchise QB can set a franchise back a decade.

It's up for debate whether Lamar would have had the same outcome in the Burgh as in Baltimore. I personally think he could have.

Either way the Steelers are currently in QB purgatory because of the decision imo.

Love that one guy's version of being nice is bouncing around the board trying to start arguments.

I don't get hot and bothered by this statistic.

For example it's not Lamar who missed a field goal against the Steelers last year to lose the game.

    Team sport.

It does certainly help to have someone efficient passing that is also a terror running to help control the clock and move the chains.

QBs probably gets too much credit for the wins or too much blame in the losses.

Some Steelers fans their best reply is Lamar has 3 playoff wins since the Steelers last playoff win, that crap means nothing to me.

Um, Josh Allen is 8-7 in the playoffs. Lamar Jackson is 3-5.

I think Lamar is overrated. I have always thought Lamar was overrated. Knowing then what I know now, I wouldn't have wanted Lamar then nor do I want him now. Lamar is no Dan Marino, and I sleep perfectly well that the Steelers didn't draft Lamar.

Marino is arguably the greatest pure passer on league in history imo. If you gave Lamar's legs to him, he'd have been superman. I'm not comparing the two directly. The point is is franchise QB. Oddly enough we're discussing two that have great individual accolades but don't have that post season success.

My thoughts are the tides could have changed with Lamar at QB for the Steelers. Some disagree. It's all water under the bridge at this point

The lesson learned is don't pass up on a potential franchise QB.

For me the argument isn’t just that LJ hasn’t won big games, it’s that he hasn’t one big games when everything was perfectly in place around him for him to lead his team to a SB. Plenty of great QBs fail to elevate a teams that don’t have championship level talent around them. A QB can only do so much when the other team is just flat out better. IMO LJ has had the best supporting roster in the NFL several times during his career, and an offense designed to always put him the best position to win. At least 3-4 times I can recall offhand, he has entered the postseason with arguably the NFL’s best overall roster substantially intact. Still, when it’s mattered most we’ve seen that he doesn’t have it.

I also wouldn’t take LJ because he is an average NFL QB at best if he’s hobbled and unable to change how the opponent plays defense because of how he threatens as a runner. How many times have we seen the Ravens keep him on the shelf when most NFL QBs would be back playing while a lower body injury is still healing?

LJ is overrated now... but he has shown flashes of good pocket passing and accuracy unlike Justin Fields, for example. The older he gets... the better he will get at it, but his legs will eventually decline as a weapon and he will have to rely on his accuracy and ability in the pocket to read defenses. With the right team around him... he could win a Super Bowl.

Lamar Jackson is a great QB but I don't think he would been good with us.I don't think Tomlin would change our entire offense similar to what Harbaugh did in Baltimore with Jackson
