Exactly. Although I'm trying really hard to be nice about it. Because I like the Kid, and it would be a huge boon for the Steelers if He worked out for us.

I'm pretty sure they know they can get to the playoffs even by avoiding the middle of the field. Pretty sure once the playoffs start you will see the glove come off and bam, middle of the fields all day until we get the SB win. Brilliant!!!!

Can't find it now, but I heard Fields was quoted as saying "The middle of the fields is mines!!! It's my last names yo."

To be fair, this has been an issue for a while. If you pound being risk-averse into a young quarterback's head, one byproduct might be avoiding throws over the middle. I still think that is part of why Pickett regressed. He did most of his damage over the middle at Pitt, then suddenly stopped throwing there as a pro.

I'm a believer that when and IF Russell Wilson gets back our offense will improve. And if the D stays top 5-6 we will win more then we lose.

Because he’s not seeing what he thinks he’s seeing. Heres some route charts which Im sure doesn’t mean anything either.

You guys really don’t understand game planning do you. You know thats a thing right? They have OC’s and everything.

Great link, thanks for posting. I want to see Fields' chart look more like Hurts' (minus the two INT's in the middle of the field of course lol). That is who he needs to emulate if he is going to succeed in this league.

Just terrible, why can SF receivers run freely? No imagination what so ever. Hard to watch.

We’d all love to see a better passing offence but in fairness to Smith the offence on Sunday had very few three and outs and the Steelers dominated TOP. They stayed away from the Falcons ballhawk secondary and took what they were given.

If Fields was throwing it all over and got picked off multiple times in a loss this board would be saying that they should have kept the ball on the ground, and they’d be right.

So You left off the others , or what. You don't have to be a genius to simply look no farther than the very 1st third down. It was Muth in the middle of the field staring at Fields, and Fields took off ,and ran., or another where Fields ran, and eventually threw it to Mount Washington, and I believe it was Pruitt wide open in the middle of the field. That's just two plays without going back to look.
So I know for a fact that's not correct. Muth is standing waiting in between the freaking hash marks when Fields takes off. Like I said just go watch the very 1st 3rd down.

I'll ask what could be a very hard question for some fans to answer:

Would you rather win ugly, or lose pretty?

And if avoiding the MOF is intentional why did Trubisky live there when he played for PIT? Did Tomlin all of a sudden change his supposed philosophy?

You gameplan to a QB's strengths, not his weaknesses. Fields is not accurate enough to consistently throw in traffic.

Just me, but I will take any win, and as Cowher said many times. Stats are for losers.

I'm not worried about it after one game, I don't think the offense will look like this the whole season.

    Agreed.

Here's the funny part that some are missing: of course they are going to have someone run a route down the middle even if they don't want to pass down the middle. otherwise the sidelines will be packed with WRs and DBs.

Seems to me people think if the game plan is to avoid the MOF, then no one will ever run down the MOF. hahhahah

How do we know if it's the QB who doesn't see the guy down the middle, or the game-plan/OC/HC telling the QB don't throw it down the middle??

Facts are it's been 4 or 5 different QBs, 2 OCs and 1HC, and they still don't throw down the middle of the field. hmmm....
