Looks awful familiar. Whats the one constant remaining? Hmm, can’t put my finger on it :hmm:

Why bring in a new OC if you are going to handcuff him with this idiotic passing attack.

Turnovers are important but not at all cost!

At some point we will need more production on offense even if we have some turnovers with that...I can live with some turnovers(if of course this is not out of the control and not in the worst possible moment)if we have way more production with the passing game

If this is the norm this year,my god that Tomlin will have all the heat for that

Tomlin has some crazy obsession with not turning the ball over, takes no chances in the middle of the field. He's so arrogant (or delusional) to think that his defense can dominate week after week, and they can be serious SB contenders scoring only 14-17 stinking points a game. The man is a dinosaur, and so is his new sidekick Arthur Smith. Of all the good OC candidates that were available, and they had to pick that guy? A real head scratcher then, and still one now.

I kind of felt that way during the game, but to see it like this is more frustrating yet.

I’m fine with a “game manager” approach to QB, but they have to do enough to keep the safeties back.

dont forget the objective is to hit 9-8. With that objective, it makes sense to do what they do

I am not freaking out because, as others have pointed out, the strength of the Falcons defense is their safeties. Here is a more optimistic view, breaking down Smith manipulating the safety through play design to get Pickens open.

One big difference between this and our previous couple years is that while the passes are on the sidelines still, they're at least in the positive yards area of the field. Under Canada, or at least with KFP, the vast majority of those passes were behind the line of scrimmage.

A very concerning thing for me on this is that if you look at those pass clusters, there's really only two clusters that use a very small area of the field and account for 80% of the passes. If that's how it's going to be, it's going to be much easier on the defense and are gains are going to be a lot less as they're prepared for it.

Not to push back on the narrative here but has Tomlin ever come out and said this or is it just the presumption that he likes to stay away from the middle of the field? Or is this more on Smith or even Fields not wanting to throw there?

One reason that it was this way might be the officiating. The officials had that area locked down tight! If the Steelers offense went there, the yellow flags were going to fly!
