10 years? More like 3. I’m getting tired of these terrible rules. Guys are making hundred of millions of dollars and soon it will just be a flag football participation and fashion show.

I can’t tell what the hell happened there. All I know is that the continuous rule changes are ultimately ruining the game.

The biggest thing I do not like is if the ball goes into the endxone and gets downed the starting point is now the 35. Used to be 20, then 25, now 35..what's next FG range, lol

In reaction, we fill our RB 3 position with Corderelle Patterson, who holds the record for kickoff return TDs. 2 years, $6 million.

If you’re that bent about a rule change like this, just stop watching FFS. It’s a chance to bring more action to the game, and reduce injuries at the same time. What’s wrong with that?

From what I read, after deliberations by owners, it's the 30 yard line. The 35 was used in the XFL. The onside kick rules are the most bizarre part I believe.

This will make kickoffs a potentially interesting play as opposed to just kicking it out of the end zone

It will make the game more interesting

    I like it

The more action is going to be someone trying not to hip tackle cause they are chasing from behind. Man, 70’s football was so much more enjoyable. Guys were tougher back then anyways. Players said tape it up and let me play. Now it’s blue tent and off the field.

I am lost. What does this do to the Onside Kick? How far does the ball have to travel before the kicking team can recover it?

Are you saying for Touchbacks they bring the ball out to the 35?

Hold on, from the post above; I don't see anything about the 35.

Any kick that reaches the end zone in the air can be returned, or the receiving team can opt for a touchback and possession at the 30. Any kick that reaches the end zone in the air and goes out of bounds or out of the end zone also would result in a touchback at the 30.

So, they did away with the out of bounds penalty of getting the ball at the 40, if the kickoff goes out of bounds?

I've been wanting this since they made the last changes in the rules, and I seen them doing this in the XFL.

Remember this statement when they start wearing little red flags on their hips.

It specifically says "reaches the end zone in the air and goes out of bounds". Kickoffs that go out of bounds before the end zone will still go to the 40.

I think any time that they make these drastic changes to the game that they should try it out in preseason to see how it goes and then vote during the next offseason whether to implement the rule or not.

This will help the Ravens. No one is better than Tucker at kicking the ball sky high and having it land around the 5 yard line. Last year the returner could just call a fair catch and get the ball on the 25 but now the kick returner must try and return the ball. I can see Tucker backing up teams inside their own 15 yard line all season long.

Someone said it was the 35 in xfl rules, but here it will be the 30. Actually after thinking about this, it should make KO's more eventful. It has become a pretty standard and boring time in games.

Since no one (defenders or blockers) can move before the catch, I see this as neutralizing the sky high kicks.

I guess that makes more sense when you put it like that - I was confused when they were complainign about the number of touchbacks and fair catches when the league brought those rules IN for the sake of player safety...

It still seems like a bit of a massive u-turn on all the changes they've done over the last decade or so. Like getting rid of blocking wedges etc.

Special teams have a lot of young guys and they are hard enough to teach one thing

And now this would require teaching them one thing and flipping the switch off at the first game and see what happens when they walk around in the dark

They have kick offs in HS and college (for now anyways). I’m sure they know how to do that.
Just saying this is a very drastic change that should be evaluated first and then implemented. JMHO.
