What is that supposed to mean? His team did well so he must be one of the best quarterbacks in history? Anything more you'd like to add?

Compare Cassell's stats that one year to Brady's typical stats, and don't forget to include wins and losses. Cassell couldn't get the Pats into the playoffs, Brady makes them a Superbowl contender every year, and he has done so without much in the way of weapons at WR.

A coach can't create talent, it's either there or it's not. Cassell played well against inferior competition most of the year while in NE. When he played a tough defence like us, he got absolutely destroyed.

Lets not get carried away here with talking crap about great players just because we hate them. Brady is arguably a top 5 QB in history. His stats back up such a ranking and like it or not, SB wins count for something. Take away all Montana's rings and I doubt anyone ranks him as high as he currently is. People on here love to say Belichek is overrated because he wasn't good until Brady came around, yet at the same time people are saying Brady is only good because he has Belichek.

They're both great at what they do and I don't see how you can say either are overrated. What more do they need to do to not be overrated?

    Unitas
    Marino
    Elway
    Manning
    And yes. Montana

I can't put him top 5. I'll grant you top10. and maybe I'll change my tune when he's all done. Not right now. Say what you will about Montana. He was clutch. Maybe more clutch than any of them.

Brady IS good. Much as I'd hate to admit it. But he's not the end all be all either.

Everybody knows about my Brady man crush so obviously I think he's awesome. I didn't think he was awesome until later in his career though. I used to despise him but then in 07 he got that chip on his shoulder and went off. He's gonna have insane stats but imagine what they'd be without that whole season he missed with the acl. If you had to win ONE game and could only have ONE qb to get it done I'd have a really hard time picking any other qb. I think Ben might be the only other dude in the NFL that's as clutch as Brady.

I can accept that. Like I said, he's arguably a top 5 guy. You could make a case for having him outside the top 5 for sure. I just find it a little crazy how many people on here call Brady overrated. What more does he have to do to not be overrated? He's won 3 SB's, has numerous NFL records, puts his team in position to be a SB contender every year, and has done so without much in the way of receiving weapons for most of his career. If you compare Brady to the guys in your top 5 list, he has better per game stats than almost all of them.

I can accept that not everyone will have him rated top 5, that's fine, but to say he's overrated implies he should have done more. I just don't know what else is expected of the guy. Every year he's among the passing leaders in the league and he makes NE a SB contender every year.

I agree, I think he's a great QB and not overrated at all. And going just by the names Ray used there, I'd put Montana 1 and bump off Manning with Brady in his place. Manning is a great regular season QB but falls short in the playoffs, Brady has him beat there and just as good regular season.

Just for clarification, my list was in no particular order. If a gun was put to my head, I'd have to say Marino for my #1. For pure arm and talent anyway.

I still have Manning over Brady, rings be damned.

The fact that there is a conversation about who is the better quarterback between Manning and Brady proves that Tom Brady is overrated. Factor in circumstances, surrounding talent (including OL), defense, team success, and what each player brings to the offense, and we might as well be talking about Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith (who has more yards, touchdowns, wins, playoff runs, Super Bowl rings, etc.).

It's not really so much rings as overall playoff performance, Mannings game drops while Bradys seems to rise. Being able to perform in the postseason has to count for something.

Hows that??? They are 2 great QB's. The whole overrated thing is kind of silly because everyone has different guidelines as to what overrated is. If the guidelines is best ever, then ok, guess he's overrated but that's not what most people use as a standard when deciding overrated. Tom Brady is one of the best to ever play the position, I can't put him at number 1 but you can make an argument for top 5 and he's without a doubt a top 10 QB to ever play. Doesn't equal overrated to me.

(*edited* Think I missed your sarcasm the first time around )

First of all, I am genuinely hurt that the mean man said mean things to me, so stop hurting my feelings. You've gone after me unprovoked a number of times now, and being the bigger man and not stooping to your level is getting harder, because I don't like being the bigger man and I like stooping. You already told me about your reading thing and I told you that you didn't have to read anything you didn't want to. So I'd appreciate it if you stopped, okay? I don't want to have to meet up someplace and fight you, because I'm not sure how old you are but I've narrowed it down to either 75 or 11, and that just wouldn't be fair.

Okay, well, we were debating whether or not Brady should be considered among the greatest QBs ever to play, and you said, "There is a reason his team has done as well as it has with him at QB......" That sort of implies you are taking the pro-Brady stance in the debate. But if all you meant by that is that he's "decent", then I guess it was just some random non-sequitur. So... case closed on that I guess.
