The 2019 season is where we could have folded our tents and just lost the season, when Ben went down. The top10 QBs that year were Burrow, Tua, and Herbert. We had an offense led by Rudy and Duck, Conner was RB1, DJ, JuJu, and Wash was the WR room, and Vance McDonald was our TE. Pretty decent OL that year. But we still made the playoffs because of coaching. Very few other coaches would have made the playoffs with that roster.

It matters to the point of player execution vs out-coached. It's referred to as an example of the former.

The steelers were down 21-3 and it was 28-14 Pats before a garbage time TD by the steelers in the last play of the game....The pats had also 4 TD in the first 6 drives before they become very conservative because of the rain....It was also a week 1 matchup.I don't believe a team with Blake as corner can beat the pats in their house in the playoffs....

The steelers had no first round pick that year in that draft....

Another very good example of player execution not being good enough.

This is true. However, if going after a QB, we may not have made that trade for Minkah, and instead used our 1st round pick on one of Burrow, Tua, or Herbert.

I made this previous post in regard to the 'tank for Arch' crowd that has been active this offseason.

or when in some defensive play, the steelers had only 9-10 players on the field, who happen way too often with Butler as DC...

I mean,it was in the last play of the game when the steelers had a TD down 28-14....If this is not garbage time,I don't know what this is....

So was the final score close, in NE, without Bell??
Also Like You pointed out it was the 1st game, and we got better as the season progress.
To say We would have lost to NE that year in the playoffs, just because we did most of the time would be like You saying.....the Ravens, and the Bills will not beat KC in the playoffs, because they haven't yet. Is that what You are saying??

No...They were down by 2 scores almost the entire game. The last 3 playoffs games between KC and Bills have been close like crazy with so many lead change in the second half

The steelers have never been close to win a game in New England with Brady as QB...Never

Williams had also been maybe our best players in that game,so without Bell was not why the steelers did not win this game...

They beat him once. Steelers actually deviated from their normal defense of NE and got pressure on Brady all game long.

The point I was making is they could beat them if they changed their approach.

I don't know what Cowher has to do with this. This is not a Cowher vs Tomlin thing, this is the steelers vs Pats when they are in foxboro in the Brady era,it was always awful, even in week 1 in 2002 with Cowher as head coach

And yes, losing 28-3 in 1996 was awful but it has nothing to do with this.

The 30-14,34-13,55-31,36-17 and 33-3 were just ugly

that was 2020, Ben was just about done. We knew he had maybe a year, max 2 left. It made sense to go after one of these Qb’s in the first. We couldve picked up a decent safety in the second or third round or FA/Trade.
