I was wanting the Steelers to get Rivers. Rivers was picked at #4 by Giants. I was kind of underwhelmed with the Ben pick at #11. Miami of Ohio? Where the hell is that? It all worked out.

Ben was clearly the exception to the rule....nobody did the things Ben did behind Center..... It wasn't just his mobility. It was his strength and ability to extend plays... He made blitzers look like children.... We have mobility now, but none of our qb's will bring dB's to tears when the d-coordinator calls a blitz.... No QB before or since did the things that Ben did

You are correct in our not paying enough attention to the line, that said a good line that stays together can last longer than the average NFL career..and as ours did ages out at about the same time.

I saw something yesterday about the lack
of depth of o linemen. The view was they are not really being developed well in college. Many are coming from QBs constantly starting in the shot gun formation and the coaching and depth just is not NFL ready. It's only one game but Stafford was sacked 7 times, hot 15, and hurried in something like 22 of 29 attempts last night. If not corrected that makes for a very long year

It wasn't Ben's mobility... it was Ben's HoF-ness in shrugging off LBs, throwing with people hanging off his arms, having a canon and being crazy accurate both in the pocket and on the run.

Lets see how the season goes, but 2004 OL and Ben were better than 2022 OL and Trub. Unless Trub or Pickett are future HoFers, this season won't be a repeat of 2004.

Here's what I'm hoping for. The ran very little of Canada's offense in pre season so hopefully the stretch plays and qb roll outs and different movements will make a difference and the reason they sucked in games is for this reason

The o line has been trash for last three years and it did not look any better in pre season. The entire league has made rules to benefit the offense and the last few years have been a rough watch for even the most die hard fans. Hope we see some improvement or this season could go sideways pretty fast. Hope d can stop run better too. Go Steeler beat the BUNGLES

One of the reasons I said our line is not the worst.
By the way .....did You see how fast Allen was getting rid of the ball.....hell even on some play fakes he was getting the ball out in less then 4 seconds. This help the OL look good. I seen Stafford take a sack while holding onto the ball for over 6 seconds.. That's ones not on the OL.

I would kill for 4 seconds for Trub to throw the ball...

Just to clarify, I'm not claiming 2022 will be anything like 2004 as the line talent was better then (HOFer Faneca) and Ben was in a class by himself. However, I'm just saying it may not be the disaster we're all fearing. We are not necessarily DOOMED!

It's hard to tell after one game, especially the first of the season. During our last Superbowl winning season, the Eagles sacked Ben like 8 times. They completely dominated our oline. Many, including myself thought the season was over. It ended up turning out alright. I wouldn't write the Rams off just yet.

i wonder who was taking reps when okrafor was sitting out this week. davis? scott? davis hasn't been here very long if he has to be the next man up if we get an injury today. this could be an interesting event in this one.
