Kashif Moore: As a UCONN alum and season ticket holder, I know this guy's play on the field very well. He never had the benefit of a good - or even decent - QB in college. He flashed some brilliance, but was definitely a bit raw compared to guys who were drafted, again mainly due to the lack of being in a situation where he would have a QB consistently hitting him in time. He was a decent route runner, and was generally quick in and out of his breaks. When the QB actually got the ball to him, he showed very good hands.

He certainly has the measurables for our new WR coach to work with:

    40 time: 4.36 official
    Vertical: 43 1/2"
    Broad Jump: 10'6"
    Bench: 19 reps
    Ht/Wt: 5'9"/180

These are all official combine numbers, so there's no pro-day bias to them. For those who real believe in such numbers, they compare favorably to Sanders who ran an official 4.40 with a 39'" vertical, 10'6" broad jump and 12 reps.

The best part about Moore is that he's already on our roster. When I saw that we had signed him to a futures contract, I was very happy, but I hadn't been thinking of him much because we have so many similar guys with more NFL polish. However, with Sanders' departure a real possibility, I think the opportunity is there for Moore to show that he has NFL talent.

Very good measurables. I look forward to seeing what he can do on the field.

That's a great point HINES. Guys under 6' tall never make it as NFL receivers, and Ben clearly hates the 5'10" AB so much that he only targets him about 7-8 times per game. I'm sure Wes Welker wakes up every day and says "man, if I were only 5 inches taller I could be a legit NFL receiver."

I didn't say that he had the potential to be our next "X" receiver lining up on the line of scrimmage. I said that he has potential to be a good slot receiver. We still need to find an X receiver, unless our front office thinks that Burress has enough left in the tank to be that guy next year.

If we lose Sanders we need another slot wr for sure. We have to have depth.

I agree we need a wr with heigth, but wasn't Ward about 5'11. That worked out pretty well.

ben needs to get with the program and throw to whomever they put on the field. we want a qb that will throw on time too, but you can't get everything you want all the time. << just kidding>>

he's pretty good. none of the steelers best receivers were giants. marino made a living in miami with the smaller, faster, mark duper and mark clayton. he'd throw short and they'd do the rest. i been having a feeling they may take one of these speedsters in the draft and may follow later with a bigger guy. ( goodwin, austin, boyd) all very productive for their height.

plax only signed for a year. cotchery is only signed for one more. if manny leaves we will need some guys that can play different spots. 1's, 2's and slots. maybe they don't even intend to move AB and sanders from their original spots. maybe they just add a new #1.

If you have an acurate QB, he can put the ball on any receiver regardless of his height, Dan Marino proved it when he threw to his 3 smurfs, if a receiver has sure hands then put the ball on him and he will catch it, Ben was more irratic last year than he was the year before, his injury affected his accuracy after he came back, and it showed on the field....

We have a good inside guy.
    We need an outside guy.
    We also have backups.

AB is our current Hines; we need the next starting outside guy. I would like to see another tall and physical guy like Plax, but i would take another burner at about 6ft like wallace or holmes. All three worked, but the offense needs one to be a championship team.

It's not the size, it's the ability. Remember the Smurfs in Washington? How about the Marks Brothers in Miami? I don't know if Marino ever had a receiver over 5'10" and he did okay. :smiley1:

It's Ben that keeps calling for a big receiver... would be interesting to see if the stats bore his case out.

Well Wes Welker had pretty much been a catching machine these past few years and he's far from a big guy.
