Hi fellows, please hear me out before you attack me. As we all here know when Ben retires we will be pretty much screwed. Landry and Dobbs don't have it. Could be the eighties and ninety's all over again.
Franchise QB's are hard to find and way more important than any other player.
Next year is supposed to have a great QB class. If L Bell has a good to great year this year, I would attempt to trade him and our first round pick for the overall #1 next year. I don't care if Bell rushed for 2500 yards. I would trade him in a second. Bell is a great RB but a great QB is what wins titles.
Do you think someone would go for this?

Trent Dilfer won a Superbowl with a good defense

Don't hold your breath wishing the Steelers drafting the #1 overall pick ever. I might have a better chance of winning the Powerball tonight.

Why would a team trade for a running back that isn't under contract? They could just sign him and keep their #1 pick.

I agree about QB>RB, but Le'veon is a once in a generation type of player, he should stay in Pittsburgh for as long as we can keep him (hopefully longer than this year). Also, you never know how good a great NCAA QB will turn out in the NFL, there have been plenty examples of them. I'd rather trade for a QB who has proved he can win in the NFL anyways.

We should be grateful if the Steelers are as good as they were in the 90's when Ben retires.

We won Superbowl XL with a lousy quarterback.

Since we win the SB we'll be drafting 32 and Bell will be a UFA.........

In today's world we'd have to give up our entire 2018 staff and part of our 2019 top end draft in order to move up to #1......

I must watch an entirely different team than you on Sundays because our defense does not suck. Are they the best in the league? No, not yet anyhow. We are talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers, right?

Look at Bills, Dolphins, 49ers, to how hard it is to replace hall of fame QB's, they have all been trying for years.

Sometimes your lucky like Green Bay, from Favre to Rogers, but it doesn't happen often.

Enjoy Ben while we have him, hopefully we get lucky, in the draft in a year or two.

I think Ben plays 2 more years personally.

Chalk me up for using a 1st round pick on our future 1st round pick.

KC played it perfectly this year. They still have their guy in Alex Smith but made a big move to go get their future in Mahommes.

This is the type of move I want the Steelers to do in 2019, if Ben plays out 2018 and 2019.

Hopefully it doesn't go down but what if you have to decide between tagging Bell and Tuitt?

Our next franchise caliber QB is probably not even out of high school yet. Steelers are in for some lean years after Ben leaves. I lived through the mid to late 80's. That was an awful time to be a Steelers fan. Most of the 90's were great even though we didn't have a franchise-caliber QB.

Reid knows QB's but I thought that was an absolute horrible move.

We'll see how it plays out.
