and 2 of the losses are a direct result of Roethlisberger turnovers, a third loss turns into a win if he completes a screen pass. Roethlisberger needs to heal and not turn the ball over in the playoffs and we will do fine.

The Steelers are 10 - 4 better than most were predicting. That was a bad loss due to turnovers, penalties and a suspension.

At the end of the season - there will be 20 teams who would give their left nut to be where the Steelers are - playing football into January. It's not what happened yesterday that matters. It's what happens over the next 7 weeks.

:goodpost: Well said...couldn't agree more. Sure, we blew our chance at the #1 seed, but we are still in the playoffs. We'll have to do it the hard way, but at least we're in.

Thank god it's only 4 losses. I've been following the steelers since 1976 or so. Been through alot of up and down years. I think the problem with most people on this board is that it's not the fact that they lose, but the way they lose. Every lost that we had this year can be attributed to the less than average offensive line. I've said it before, this is the worst offensive line in the league. Until they put some serious investments in the oline we will always have close games, lose to interior teams and Ben will not make it to age 30.

We have not lost to any inferior teams this year. We are in the top of the league and have lost only to other top teams with records as good as or better than ours.

The two losses are the result of Roethlisberger turnovers (5 in one game four in the other). The hardest job in the league is trying to protect Roethlisberger. You just can't hold defensive lineman for as long as Roethlisberger holds the ball. Sure they are not the most skilled but they work hard to protect his style of play. The offensive line has been so banged up and has had to play multiple positions each.

Defense, OL, and running can't overcome a horrible day for your QB and you can't game plan for 4 turnovers. Why do people want to bash their own team?

We have also played our worst games on the road, they may not have all been losses, but the team has a huge challenge ahead... winning 3 road games against playoff teams.

We lost at Baltimore, Houston and SF, we tried to lose to Cincy, Arizona, KC, Indy all on the road as well. Not one decent road game performance. If we indeed do make it as a 5 or 6 seed, this team does not appear to have the same fight as the 2005 Steelers, 08 Giants or 10 Packers. I'll support my team in every game, but I'm also a realist.

You are correct. We have not lost to any inferior teams. But we have been close enough to loose to inferior teams if it wasn't for a couple of Gay interceptions. I think everyone that is a fan can make constructive critisims (sp) of this team. I will be a steelers fan for life win, lose or draw. And I also agree that about 1/3 of the sacks Ben causes himself. But you can not honestly believe that our offensive line is above average. If it wasn't for Starks coming back we would be dead in the water. And no one can convince me that Essex, Foster, kemo, and Legursky strikes fear in anyone. I watch game afte game how they get manhandled. I watch the oline every game after I record it. Individually, they are bad. Technique wise I can't understand what they are doing. For example, on a stunt from the defensive line, you pass the defensive tackle to your tackle and you wait for the defensive end to enter the vacated space. This is taught in high school. What does Essex do, follows the defensive tackle all the way pass his own tackle, then all of sudden he remembers i left an opening and Ben"s get spashed. These guys get beat off the ball most of the time. If Ben's has the protection, I think he doesn't throw half of those interceptions.

At the end of the season, there might also be 20 teams who would give the same nut for the schedule the Steelers faced:

Seattle, St. Louis, Arizona, Kansas City, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee, and two games against Cleveland.

    Wrong again.

    http://playoffstatus.com/nfl/afcsospg.html

Based upon opponents winning percentage, the Steelers currently have played the second hardest schedule in the entire NFL.

They've also currently got the 10th hardest schedule in the league when you factor in the last 2 games, which are cream puffs.

    http://playoffstatus.com/nfl/afcsosag.html

Of course this is subject to change somewhat. But I seriously doubt the games against the Rams and Browns will drop them 11 spots. By seasons end, they should definitely be in the top 1/2 of the league in terms of difficulty of schedule. Probably in the 10-12 spot.

Does anyone check their facts before they post?

:applaud: Well said Biz! No, it seems that some just choose to ignore facts because to them facts do not matter nor will they ever because they already have it in their heads that they themselves are right no matter right.

I agree with everything you all have said. All that matters is getting into the playoffs. Once there, anything can happen. Of course I wish we were playing better and healthier than we have been all year, but at least we are in. Now, rest everyone important and get let it fly in January.

Also worth noting is that it's typically the bad teams that have the hardest schedules. That makes sense because presumably a harder schedule makes it harder to win as many games. However, consider the Ravens. They have to twice play us, the Bengals, and the Browns, who will probably finish with 11-12 wins, 9-10 wins, and 4-5 wins. Now consider the Browns, who will have to twice play a Ravens team that is going to win 11-12 games, and the Browns don't get to play the 5-11 team that finishes last in the AFCN.

With ben hurt I really thought that they would go to the dink and dunk brady style all the way down the field. Then sprinkled with a running game and we wouldve won the game.

They tried that. Unlike the Pats Game the 49ers defense was all over the short passing game. We would have won the game had we not turned the ball over 4 times. Fact: Teams that lose the turnover battle lose the game 80% of the time.
