It sounds like Fields will get the start this week.

 

Games like this one are the ones you are supposed to win if you are contending.

No excuses for a loss, even with Fields starting.

 

any early season slip ups will keep us out of the playoffs.

so....this is a must win IMO, IF we want to make the playoffs.

 

Steelers D vs. rookie QB Bo Nix.

I like our chances. Can't wait to hear Cowherd spin Nix/Payton and then next week Herbert/Harbaugh... his golden boys, if the "irrelevant" Steelers end up 3-0. I'll have the popcorn ready.

 

JMO, but I have always thought Sean P was an overrated HC. Doesn't mean we will win, but everyone talks about Tomlin wasting a HOF Qb....then what is Sean P??? On top of that....He's what everyone says (Cowherd) is needed.....a Offensive minded HC.....yet He's been to one SB with a HOF Qb.

 

I remember those! You bite into them and think man this is nice and sweet and fruity! 5 seconds later Man, this is like chewing flavorless rubber! Lol

 

I thought that from the moment the schedule came out. The first half of the season is actually our most important half. That's the part of the season where we have the best chance of winning games. We have to win almost all of our first half of the season. Cuz the second half is even tougher.

Of course, if we do poorly in the second half of the season and make the playoffs it really points to another one and done......lol

 

I know most do, but I don't see it as bad as some do. I see one two really hard games in the 2nd half, and then division games....which I believe we will split at the very least

 

Payton is also 3-0 vs Tomlin!

 

depends on how we lose and play in that second half.

battle hard the eagles and chiefs - and lose 27 - 26, well, we are competitive and I feel OK.

but go 5-3 here early in the season and we won't get to 9 or 10 wins!!

 

There was a big change for Denver's defense in week 1. Patrick Surtain who has always played Left CB, but last week in week 1 the Broncos allowed him to go against DK all game long.

I would expect the same game plan this week against Pickens, forcing the Steelers to use other WRs

This could be the matchup to watch all game long.

I'm hoping we can go seven out of nine in the first half and then pick up another four wins in the second. The cowboys and Jets are going to be our hardest opponents in the first nine games. I'm still not sure how Rogers is going to play, and by the time we get to Dallas Dak will probably be injured..... So who knows, might even be better.

In the second half, we have all those division games and that's going to be rough. But, deshawn Watson is in trouble again. So who knows if he'll even be there. That could make a difference.

I feel like I am looking for others to fail rather than for us to succeed in order for us to get there. But, that's a part of the game too. You have to get to the end of the season with your team intact. So it matters.

 

They all predict a close game....

 

Week 1 wasn't a good week for any Rookie QB's.

Bo Nix, I like him, but I think he should not be starting. The problem is, Denver has nothing else.
On paper, Denver doesn't look awful. Too bad the actual play does reflect same.

Pittsburgh should win this one, regardless of QB.
Denver allowed Walker 103 yards.... I'd like to see Harris get over 100.. I want to see that from him a lot this season.
This is a good game for the Steelers Defense to shine.

Teams struggle a little in Denver, but I think that's a bit overrated.

 

Payton also had three straight losing seasons with Brees at QB .

 

Fields threw for 4TDs vs the Broncos last season. Let that production continue!

 

The saints defense were the worst in the NFL in those years

 

I don't think that's correct. I remember a win in New Orleans with Wallace making a game winning catch.

 

This one was in 2009 vs packers....The saints beat the steelers in 2010,2014 and 2018.
