On This Date......2005

Jeff Reed kicked a 33 yard FG in OT to give the Steelers a 20-17 win over the visiting Jets in the AFC divisional playoff game. That would be the 2004 season.

Just sharing one of my XMAS presents, lol.

 

2005 to the youngest members of this board was ancient history. To us old farts it seems like yesterday.

I know that this post has nothing to do with the thread but I'm drunk and don't care. Just feeling philosophical.

And yes, its only 8:30 in the morning but I worked the night shift so its semi OK for me to be drunk now.

 

That game about gave me a heart attack. So glad the Jets kicker choked or we would have been a "one and done 1 seed" like the Ravens this year.

 

No need to apologize! One can be drunk anytime one wants to!

 

I have a good friend who is a Jet fan so I sent him a text this morning.......Happy Anniversary. He said for what I sent him this info and his response:

"I literally broke my glass coffee table that day........it was first and last jets game I watched with my wife"

Mark that game up why it's bad to rest starters in week 17. Steelers rested a bunch of guys against the Bills (steelers still won) they went 15-1 and then went out almost lost this game to the Jets.

Thank god O'Brien missed those FG's.

It was all for not, lost to the Pats the following week.

 

nah, just fired us up for the next season. 15-1, then the first team to win a SB as a 6th seed.. sign me up

 

Remember it so well. My family members use to get together for every game. I remember us all holding hands for that kick.

 

On this day in 1995 Jim HarBaugh launched a hail Mary to try and ruin the Steelers 2nd straight AFCCG appearance. The ball bounced to the ground and Greg Lloyd cussed on live TV. It was awesome.
